Nice work Jonathan Dodd! As we say in our critical thinking training, when a headline or claim gets your attention (“Your favorite spatula could kill you"), you need to trace the claim and then dissect the claim. If you can take the time to do that you'll often find things are not what the headline writers say.
NZ market researcher who loves solving marketing challenges through critical thinking. I work with the team at Truwind (formerly Research First) because brains work better in teams. The trickier the question, the better.
The mantra of my new research colleagues at Truwind is 'critical thinking' - and here's a great example from this morning's news about a small media storm you probably saw that arose from a few too many people (including a peer-reviewed journal), not taking a moment to step back to evaluate some information with fresh eyes: https://lnkd.in/g962UGzx #criticalthinking #truwind #marketresearch

You can judge our company by the company we keep. Welcome to the team Jonathan Dodd. Can't wait to see what we can achieve together.

I'm thrilled to announce that this week marks the start of an exciting new chapter for me, as I start my new role as North Island Account Manager with Truwind (formerly Research First). After 20+ years working with the small, uber-smart indy company Research Solutions as it grew into Ipsos NZ, the time is right for me to get back to what I love best, working with small-but-perfectly-formed super-clever teams of smart cookies looking to grow. Given the time of year I have the luxury of some time to do some behind the scenes work with Truwind before the hustle of the New Year, so watch this space! But of course, if you want to get to the front of the queue to talk new business with me, be my guest! https://lnkd.in/gCBjfpxF

Seven years research summed up in three slides. Our Te Mauri O Ōtautahi is truwind | Research First's love letter to Christchurch. This research programme has traced the way the city has crafted a new future from the challenges presented by the 2010/11 earthquake sequence. It's fair to say that the arc of that recovery has been tough at times but 2025 really does feel like the time for Ōtautahi Christchurch to shine. We're no longer recovering from the earthquakes but launching forth from them. Every year at truwind | Research First we run our Te Mauri o Ōtautahi ('The Pulse of Christchurch') research project. We like to think of this as our love letter to the city where truwind | Research First got its start. In early 2025 our focus is going to be on why Ōtautahi Christchurch is the place to be and everything the city is getting right. We are looking for a name for this research, something like 'Cool Britannia' that rolls off the tongue for Ōtautahi Christchurch. Post your suggestions below and we'll pick a winner in the new year. Note this is not a call for sponsors for the 2025 project ... but if you want to come onboard or if you have a question you'd love to see asked, get in touch with Liz Morley and we'll see what we can do.

We love our relationship with the UC Business School and are always happy to lend them our Carl Davidson. So good for truwind | Research First to share the stage with such luminaries as Murray W. Strong, Tracey Cotter-Martin, Elsamari Botha and, of course, Paul Ballantine. Remember that the point of research isn't just to help understand the world but also change it.
What an incredible event! 🎉 Our recent Thought Leadersip event, Navigating Change: Transformative Trends Reshaping New Zealand’s Workplace, brought together a powerhouse of thought leaders, innovators, and changemakers to explore the forces reshaping the future of work in Aotearoa. 🌏✨ We were privileged to hear from: 🎤 Tracey Cotter-Martin, Associate Director Optimisation and Innovation at Datacom, who shared how connected techologies are transforming workplaces and practical ways to adapt. 🎤 Murray W. Strong, whose insights on how boards should navigate change were invaluable. 🎤 Carl Davidson, who brought data-driven clarity and talked about the impact of New Zealand's changing demograpy on the workplace. 🎤 And our own Elsamari Botha, whose expertise in digital transformation and Generative AI opened our eyes to new possibilities. We were also delighted to have Paul Ballantine, Executive Dean of the UC Business School, share an update on the exciting developments at the Business School. A massive thank you to our speakers, attendees, and everyone who contributed to the success of this event, including Brannigans. What do you want to be when you grow up? Probably still a valid question for those of us who are yet to really feel like grown ups! We've taken a look back at what New Zealanders aspired to be as kids and whether they made it. Here at Truwind we get curious and we like to get an answer. If you have something you've always wanted to know the answer to then get in touch with Liz Morley, tell us whether you made it to your dream career and then tell us what you want to know. We'll partner with our friends at Dynata to get to the bottom of it. Have a look at our Latest Insights page to see what else we've been curious about: https://lnkd.in/giht282n

Sounds like a great day Ekant Veer and the UC Business School. Here at truwind | Research First we love the relationship we have with the University of Canterbury.
Just wrapped up an incredible, albeit intense, day with my MBA students exploring how data can guide by (and sometimes be sidelined in) real-world decision-making. Our dynamic line-up of speakers brought their own unique perspectives to the table: 🎓 Nick Barclay from the University of Canterbury's Evaluation and Student Insight team delved into the role of data in enhancing educational outcomes. It was enlightening to see how data can reshape learning experiences! 🎓 Dr. Duncan Webb, Shadow Deputy Leader and former Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, offered a candid look at the delicate balance between data and politics. Kudos to him for handling a rapid-fire Q&A from all of us!! 🎓 Nicki O'Donnell, GM Corporate at Aviva - live free from violence, shifted gears by addressing the reality of resource constraints, even when the data screams for action. The room was moved by Aviva’s mission and impact in our communities. 🎓 Keahikekoa B. from truwind | Research First shared her journey of presenting data through an authentic Pacific lens. Her commitment to community-centric insights really resonated with us and again, handled the questions like a pro - I think she said this was her first time talking on this subject, so that's amazing!! The day was a blend of insights and emotions, but it's all part of shaping our future leaders’ understanding of data-driven marketing and strategic decision-making. Here’s to more moments that bridge theory with real-world impact! 🌏📊 #MBA #DataInDecisionMaking #RealWorldLearning #UCNZ

The Research Association New Zealand (RANZ)'s Research Effectiveness Awards (REAWARDS) are how our industry celebrates excellence. After winning the Supreme Award last year truwind | Research First took home the "Sustained Impact and Effective Partnership" award this year for our work with FMG (Farmers Mutual Group). We treasure our relationship with FMG, an organisation committed to insights and evidence to its core. We have worked for so long with the inimitable Michael Harvey and his team that we've forgotten where truwind | Research First ends and FMG (Farmers Mutual Group) starts. And congratulations to all of the winners at the 2024 REAWARDS. You can check them out here: https://lnkd.in/gwAduhr7
