The 2nd annual New Zealand Generative AI Summit took place last week in Auckland, bringing together industry thought leaders and AI enthusiasts to explore the innovative applications of this fast-evolving technology. This year's summit built on the success of the inaugural event, diving deeper into practical strategies and real-world examples that organizations can implement to harness the power of generative #AI effectively. WayBeyond’s Head of AI, Mpatisi Moyo, participated in a standout panel discussion on Day 2 titled "How Can We Give Executives a Balanced Understanding of Generative AI’s Capabilities and Limitations?" Joining him were James Bergin (Xero), Maria Mingallon (Mott MacDonald), Jo Hilson (Tourism Holdings Limited), and moderator Kari Jones. The panellists shared their experiences in implementing and leading AI initiatives within their organizations, offering valuable insights for executives and businesses eager to integrate this technology. Here are a few key takeaways from the session: 1. It's important to focus on the actual problems being solved. AI should be a tool to enhance value and not the sole focus. 2. Continuously test, observe, and refine as you integrate AI into your business. 2. Give employees at all levels of the organisation the autonomy to explore AI solutions. During the discussion, Mpatisi also emphasized the importance of knowing when generative AI is the right tool and when a human, analytical approach is needed, saying, “Generative AI is powerful, but without careful consideration of the problems we want to solve and when to apply it, we risk spending time fixing issues that arise from using the technology itself.” At WayBeyond, Mpatisi leads a small but mighty team that focuses on combining AI, data, and plant science to build smart insights, prediction and recommendation tools within the #FarmRoad crop management platform, helping growers make better decisions and improve efficiency in their production. WayBeyond is proud to be at the forefront of AI innovation, helping shape the future of agriculture through data-informed farming. #GenAiSummit2024NZ #GenerativeAI #AIinAgriculture #AgTech #Innovation #WayBeyond
