Park Guell: A Fairytale Town with a Mosaic Lizard Mascot

Barcelona's Gaudi architecture tour starts with the most accessible spot: Park Guell. Resembling a fairytale cottage in the forest, it's vibrant and full of joy! Covering 20 hectares, Park Guell is divided into two main areas: the Monumental Zone and the free Forest Zone. Gaudi's iconic structures, such as the gingerbread houses, the lizard, and the terrace area, are located in the Monumental Zone, which requires a €10 ticket for entry. The mosaic-tiled wave benches on the terrace may look hard, but they are actually ergonomically designed for comfort. From this vantage point, you can overlook the entire Park Guell and even get a panoramic view of the city, making it an ideal spot for watching the sunrise or sunset. The most famous mascot in Park Guell is the large lizard made of colorful mosaic tiles. To take a photo with it, you have to patiently wait in line! At the main entrance, there are two fairytale-like gingerbread houses, which were originally planned as gatehouses and porters' lodgings. Now, they serve as a museum and gift shop. Park Guell is located on a hill in Barcelona. You can take Metro Line 3 and enter through the main entrance, but the downside is that you have to climb a long uphill path after getting off. Another option is to take Bus 24 and enter through the back entrance, which doesn't require climbing, but the downside is that it's farther from Gaudi's architectural complex, requiring a bit of a walk.
