Lianhua Tower - Standing for over 400 years

Lianhua Tower, originally named Wenchang Tower, is a feng shui tower located on the main peak of Lianhua Mountain in Shilou Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. It covers an area of 65.12 square meters and is known as one of the three towers of Guangzhou, along with Pazhou Tower and Chigang Tower. Lianhua Tower is a pavilion-style brick tower with an octagonal plan. It has 9 floors on the outside and 11 floors on the inside, with a height of about 50 meters, and is built with blue bricks. The tower has a wall with a brick staircase that spirals up to the top floor, with windows on each floor. Lianhua Tower is the first tower that ancient foreign merchant ships saw when they entered the Pearl River estuary, hence it is known as the "Huabiao of the Provincial Capital." Lianhua Tower is a pavilion-style brick tower with an octagonal plan, symbolizing the eight trigrams of "heaven, earth, yin, yang, wind, thunder, water, and fire." It has 9 floors on the outside and 11 floors on the inside, with a height of about 50 meters, and is built with blue bricks. It covers an area of 65.12 square meters. Each floor has a flat seat and eaves made of interlocking bricks, with brick corner columns and imitation beams and purlins painted in vermilion. The first floor has an outer side length of 3.6 meters, with a hollow center and an inner side length of 1.24 meters, with a door on the northwest side. Each floor has a decreasing height and width, with the original tower having fir wood floors. The tower has a wall with a brick staircase that spirals up to the top floor, with windows on each floor. Lianhua Tower has wind chimes on each eave corner, with a total of 72, and a statue of Confucius on the top. On June 29, 1989, Lianhua Tower was listed as a third batch of Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government.
