In 2024, during my maple viewing trip to the Northeast, I traveled from Sendai to Aomori and visited Morioka City, a charming city. Morioka is located in the central hub of six northeastern counties in Japan. The urban area is run by the Nakatsu River and is surrounded by mountains. It has retro buildings from the Meiji era and the ruins of Morioka Castle with beautiful stone walls. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and the red leaves are dyed yellow. A beautiful landscape painting. This time I woke up very early and took a walk to Morioka Castle Park. This historical site was selected as one of the top 100 castles in Japan and one of the top 100 parks in Japan. The maple leaves and ginkgo trees on the stone walls were in full bloom, and the sky was red and golden. Slowly rising into the sky, it is really beautiful. Not far from Iwate Park, there is a beautiful building: the Iwate Bank Red Brick Building. Designed by architect Tatsuno Kingo and Kasai Manji Architects, it is full of Renaissance style.
