Xiamen, the dreaming summer resort

This scenic route, aptly named for its combination of mountain and sea views, offered a refreshing escape from the city’s heat, providing both natural beauty and a sense of tranquility. The trail begins near the coast, where the gentle sound of waves and the fresh sea breeze set the tone for the hike. As I ascended, the views quickly became breathtaking, with the sparkling blue waters of the Taiwan Strait stretching out to the horizon on one side, and the verdant hills of Xiamen rising on the other. The path was well-maintained and shaded by trees, making it a comfortable hike even in the summer sun. Along the way, I encountered various viewpoints that offered panoramic vistas of Xiamen’s coastline, dotted with islands and the distant outline of ships moving through the strait. What made the Shanhai Trail truly special was the seamless blend of mountain and sea, where each turn brought a new perspective of Xiamen’s natural beauty. The trail wound through dense forests, over rugged hills, and along cliffside paths, offering a variety of landscapes that kept the hike engaging and rewarding. The peacefulness of the trail, combined with the stunning views, made this hike a perfect summer activity, allowing me to connect with nature while escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. By the time I reached the end of the trail, I felt both invigorated and at peace, having experienced the best of Xiamen’s natural offerings.
