Watch Monkeys Fight at a Millennium-Old Temple | Lushan, Xichang, Liangshan Prefecture
This Lushan is not the Lushan in Jiangxi Province. This time, we are introducing Lushan in Xichang, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province.
Lushan, also known as Wa Mountain, is known as the "Scenic Spot of Southern Sichuan". The mountain is covered with ancient trees, and more than ten ancient temples built in the Han, Tang, Ming, and Qing dynasties are hidden among the dense shade. They belong to Taoism and Buddhism. Although their religious rules and philosophical thoughts are different, they have been able to live in harmony on the same mountain for thousands of years and spread their own teachings, which is rare in the country.
To climb Lushan, the first choice is the CNY 65 cable car up and slide down combo ticket. You can often see monkeys chasing and playing while sitting on the cable car, and the slide down is super fun. You can also choose to take a sightseeing bus, which costs CNY 5.
Lushan has beautiful mountains and ancient trees, and is a natural green barrier for Xichang. The forest is home to a wide variety of rare animals and plants, including the Jiulong Han Cypress, one of the top ten "Tree Kings of Bashu" with a history of 2,000 years, which is unique in the world.
Location: Lushan Scenic Area, Xichang (right next to Qionghai)
Transportation
For those taking the sightseeing bus or hiking up the mountain, take the bus to [Lushan Station]
For those taking the cable car up the mountain, take the bus to [Qionghai Park Station]
Tips:
1. About watching monkeys:
The monkey group is on the hiking trail on the right side of the mountain direction of Guangfu Temple, and there are fewer monkeys as you go up the mountain; do not hold snacks, water, or yogurt in your hand, as they may be snatched by monkeys.
2. Both the cable car and the sightseeing bus can only reach Guangfu Temple, and you can only choose to walk to the top of Lushan and the observation deck.
3. Cable car and slide opening hours: 9:00–17:30. It is best to buy tickets on site, as online tickets also need to be picked up on site.
4. About dining: There are tea houses on the mountain and vegetarian meals (CNY 20/person buffet) in the temple, which are very cost-effective!

Xichang's Guangfu Temple, a blessed place for prayers, offers an experience of the charm of diverse religious cultures
During a trip to Xichang, in addition to Qionghai, Lushan is also a must-visit attraction. Guangfu Temple on Lushan is right above Qionghai, known as the 'Scenic Spot of Southern Sichuan', and is a great place for a panoramic view. Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and other religions have coexisted on Lushan for a thousand years, and the incense at Guangfu Temple on the mountain is particularly prosperous, making it a treasured place for locals to pray annually.
It is recommended to take the cable car up the mountain, enjoy the scenery along the way, and after reaching Guangfu Temple halfway up the mountain, you will need to get off and walk. Going down the mountain, you can choose to take the slide, which saves a lot of effort. The monkey troops are also a major feature of Lushan, and in terms of both numbers and liveliness, they are not inferior to those on Mount Emei. There is a small shop above Guangfu Temple where you can buy some peanuts to feed the monkeys.
If you happen to be there in the evening, you can also wait at the viewing platform for a stunning sunset, feeling the afterglow of the setting sun, the gentle breeze, and the Buddha's presence, comfortable and at ease. The address is Qionghai Lushan National Scenic Area, with free admission, 35 yuan for a one-way cable car ride, and 55 yuan for a round trip. Warm tips: There are many playful monkeys on Lushan, so remember not to carry bags in your hands when climbing, or they may be snatched away, haha!

Chinese name: Lushan Alias: Frog Mountain
Known as: Scenic spot in southern Sichuan Altitude: 2317 meters
Scenic level: Sichuan provincial scenic spot
Location: 5 kilometers south of Xichang city, beside National Highway 108
Introduction:
Lushan, which rises from the ground near Qionghai, forms a large scenic spot in southwestern Sichuan with the momentum of 'half a wall supporting the sky, Ningcheng painting screen'. It is known as 'Scenic spot in southern Sichuan'.
Lushan, also known as Frog Mountain, is one of the provincial scenic spots in Sichuan. The altitude of Lushan is 2317 meters.
It is east of the mirror-like Qionghai, west of the winding and beautiful Anning River, north of the historic city of Xichang, and south of the towering Luoji Mountain.
There are ancient trees on the mountain, especially pine trees. The ancients used 'pine wind and water moon' to describe the scenery of Lushan and Qionghai, that is, the pine of Lushan, the wind of Anning River, the water of Qionghai, and the moon of Xichang.

Hushan | Go hiking, climb the life-threatening Hushan
At 10 o'clock in the morning, we took a taxi to the Lushan slide cableway. There were many people climbing the mountain on holidays, and the queue had already lined up to the gate. The staff also issued stools for tourists to queue up. We bought a package of 65r for the uphill cableway and downhill slide. After buying tickets on the spot, we can take the cableway with the current team. It takes about 1h from queuing to getting on the cable car, so it is recommended to get up early and start climbing.
After getting off the cable car, we first went to the viewing platform to overlook Qionghai, which is very suitable for taking pictures, but the sun is baking here, although it is cool in the mountains, it is still recommended to bring a sun hat or wear sun protection clothing.
A few steps up from the viewing platform is the Sanfu Temple. After a simple visit, we entered the mountain road and soon encountered many monkeys. In fact, there are monkeys all the way to the Guanyin Pavilion, just because there are shops selling peanuts here, so there are more monkeys gathered. There are fierce monkeys, who will grab the water and bags of tourists, and those who deliver food will also be very excited, so in order to avoid attacks, put food such as water in the bag, and don't deliberately provoke monkeys, protect yourself. Of course, there are also gentle monkeys, either waiting for feeding with their hands, or lying on the rocks for a nap. The monkeys are not afraid of people, as long as they don't really hit their faces with their phones, they won't attack you.
There is a bathroom when you climb to the Guanyin Pavilion. Above the bathroom is a pavilion. If you go forward, there is a great view. There are not many people. The trees seem to have left a vacant lot for overlooking Qionghai. Under the blue sky, it seems to be bluer and more beautiful. This is simply a natural viewing platform.
Here at the Guanyin Pavilion, there is a signpost indicating the way to the God of Wealth Temple. Follow the signpost until you see a small staircase leading to the temple. Go up the steps, there is a small shop run by a couple: dumplings, ice powder, fried potatoes, and tea. Sitting in the dam is very cool, listening to the Buddhist music of the temple, there is a sense of Zen.
We climbed here, about 2.5h, one is that we can't climb up physically, and the other is that the top of the mountain is still far away. We estimate that we are afraid of less than half of the journey (with a guide map). We returned to the position of the cable car and took the slide. I have to emphasize again to climb the mountain early, because everyone goes down the mountain at almost the same time, and basically they all go down the mountain by slide, so the queue for the slide is longer, and it feels like it can be queued for 1h, and there are few people at the cableway. In order to save time, we chose to take the cableway down the mountain. Unlike the uphill facing Qionghai, the downhill is facing Qionghai, which is also considered to have lost the fun and picked up the scenery.

Touring Lushan, temples, museums, mountaineering, and spiritual monkeys
Touring Lushan, temples, museums, mountaineering, and spiritual monkeys
Lushan in Xichang is closely connected with Qionghai. There are cable cars, cars, and hiking options for going up the mountain. On the mountain, there is Guangfu Temple, known as the 'Southern Sichuan Scenic Spot', and there is also the Liangshan Yi Slave Society Museum, and there are many groups of macaques. Touring Lushan, you can worship and pray for blessings, you can also visit and understand the past and development of the Liangshan Yi society, it is also a great opportunity to exercise and get close to nature, and have close contact with the spiritual monkeys of Lushan. Walking slowly in the mountains, looking back at Qionghai, those who can hike to the top of the mountain are also considered 'heroes'. Although the vertical height of Lushan is only 800 meters, it is enough to climb. I have toured Lushan many times and have not been able to reach the top. ....... It's good to leave some regrets, and leave some reasons for touring Lushan again.
But touring Lushan, visiting Guangfu Temple, watching museums and macaques are very convenient. The relative height of Qionghai is only more than 100 meters, and both cable cars and cars can reach it, so you can easily play.

Xichang Visit the ancient temples in the mountains of Shanghai!.
🔸This Lushan is not that Lushan, Lushan is also known as Frog Mountain, it is one of the provincial scenic spots in Sichuan, known as the "Southern Sichuan Scenic Area".
🔸There are ancient trees on the mountain, and there are Guangfu Temple, Mengduan Shrine, Sanjiao Nunnery, Ancestor Hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Queen Mother Hall, Jade Emperor Hall, Qingyang Palace, Wuzu Nunnery and other ancient temples built in the Han, Tang, Ming, and Qing dynasties hidden in the dense shade. These ancient temples belong to Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. Although their doctrines, philosophical thoughts, etc. are not the same, they can live in harmony in a mountain for thousands of years, and each teaches their own teachings, which is rare in the country, and unique.
🔸Here is the spiritual clock, and it is also praised by monks and Taoists as a good mountain for enlightenment. More than a dozen Buddhist temples and Buddhist palaces are scattered in the dense forest, and the ancient temple buildings are built according to the situation, each occupying a secluded place, majestic and spectacular, with carved beams and painted buildings, which are fascinating. It is often said that "Guanyin Pavilion is winding and winding, Yaochi Palace is high and sunny, Jade Emperor Hall is dangerous and majestic, and Wuzu Nunnery is secluded and deep". Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism built temples on a road in the mountain, there are five temples on the mountain, four Taoist temples, a total of nine ancient temples, reflecting the religious purpose of "three religions in one" of Empress Wu of the Tang Dynasty. Emei is all Buddha, Qingcheng is pure Tao, only Xichang Lushan is unique, Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism coexist, forming a tourist attraction where natural and cultural landscapes gather.
🔸Ming Dynasty's top scholar Yang Shengan stayed in Lushan on the night of the Torch Festival. After seeing the beautiful scenery of Lushan and the grand occasion of the Torch Festival, he chanted the famous verse here: "The old man stays in Lushan tonight, and the sky gate is not closed at night. Who smashed the universe, the stars fell to the earth".
🔸The main peak of Lushan (Shamao Xiang) is 2317 meters above sea level, with a relative height difference of about 800 meters from the surface of Qionghai, and it is about eight kilometers from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain. Lushan Mountain is strange and beautiful, with towering ancient trees. It is the natural green barrier of Xichang. There are many rare species of animals and plants in the forest. There is the Jiu Long Han Cypress, one of the ten "Bashu Tree Kings" with a history of two thousand years. It is unique in the world.
