As part of a recent monitoring visit, we were pleased to meet with Centro Financiero Empresarial (CFE), an investee of the Ilu Women’s Empowerment Fund. Founded in 2009, CFE plays an important role in Panama’s microfinance sector by providing tailored financial products to small businesses in a highly fragmented market. Deetken Impact Investment Officer Betsy Rosales Gaborit visited several of CFE’s clients, each with a powerful story of resilience and growth. Originally from Venezuela, Virglio settled in Panama and opened a business importing photocopier parts and industrial copiers. Thanks to the support of several loans from CFE, he was able to diversify his products and services, expanding to offer comprehensive solutions including a repair shop, printer rentals, and industrial printing services at two locations. Similarly, Rolando, whose family-run tool business struggled to access traditional bank financing, was able to secure working capital through CFE, enabling him to invest in vital equipment and inventory. These stories highlight the transformative impact of financial inclusion, fostering economic growth and stability for entrepreneurs who may otherwise be overlooked. We are proud to support CFE in their mission to empower small businesses and strengthen communities. #FinancialInclusion #Microfinance #WomenEmpowerment #MSMEs #Panama #ImpactInvesting #Entrepreneurship #GenderLensInvesting Pro Mujer, Vancity, Global Alliance for Banking on Values, UN Women, USAID, U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, 2X Global, Canada Forum for Impact Investment and Development (CAFIID), the The Global Impact Investing Network, LAVCA, Latimpacto, MicroCapital Group, Center for Financial Inclusion (CFI), 60 Decibels, DAI, SVX, SVX MX / SVX México, Frank Vallenilla, Sergio Jauregui, Raul Rivero
