LATIN AMERICAN GAMES SHOWCASE ha compartido esto
This version of The Game Awards was unforgettable to me--throughout the various showcases, projects I contributed to were highlighted three times. Working with these three different teams was an honor, and I'll delve into them: The LATIN AMERICAN GAMES SHOWCASE (its The Game Awards edition) showed the "Take Us North" from the team at Anima Interactive. It was a pleasure to contribute to the narrative of this game, with such a poignant topic that is personal to me and countless others. I encourage everyone to not only check it out (https://lnkd.in/e-5d-gyZ) but also its website: https://lnkd.in/ex_agT8b. I remember being asked during a panel from the Student Game Developers' Alliance what it meant to make "socially conscious games." Take Us North embodies, in my opinion, what a socially conscious game is. An excerpt from the website: "Take Us North is rooted in research and grounded in reality. We are collaborating closely with migrants and asylum seekers with lived experience, anthropologists, and academic experts in migration." Firaxis Games showed the cinematic for the upcoming Civilization VII. The score was amazing, as was the writing and story of the experience--and I'm so proud of my former colleagues who were able to show a story that transcends eras. https://lnkd.in/eqqTv5WJ Some may have noticed my work as a mentor and moderator for Amir Satvat's Games Community--watching Amir Satvat accept an award on behalf of the team and highlight the scale at which we are trying to help developers was a really emotional moment. On a personal level, there are many initiatives Amir came up with that were not short of life-changing to many friends and colleagues of mine. Tickets to huge events that would normally cost a fortune were given away to many folks trying to navigate the market, all while maintaining the various resources he mentioned in his speech. It is a huge honor to be a part of his community, and I wanted to extend my gratitude to Amir, and the many moderators that make maintaining this possible. To Nicholas Revell, Alexander Brazie, Justin Williams, Eva Tucker, Vasia Tolou, Pablo Carrera Calero, 🥑 Liam Sorta, Jackie Tancredi, Antonio C., Heather Taylor, Hailey Rojas, Ricardo Fleck, Andrew Yung, Wendy Prantner, Ashley Searby, Tommy Foo, Michael Lubker, Sebastyen Simpson, Mikayla Avery, Tim Wood and Ayla Derrick--give yourselves a round of applause, too! It's been amazing working with so many different teams across genres, but sharing an enormous passion for the art of game making. Maintaining enthusiasm towards our craft is more difficult than ever, so even if just for a night (couple of days, technically!), I'm glad to see the #wins channels across various Discord servers gain traction with people able to share what they have been putting their heart and soul into. Here's to more victories for our communities, cheers everyone! 🥂
