The skin of the Amazon

Sobre nosotros

In collaboration with 70 families from 8 Indigenous communities in the Peruvian Amazon, we have achieved an abrasion-resistant bio textile derived from the sap of the Shiringa tree. We have named this innovation AMAZKIN. Natural rubber extraction from the Shiringa tree preserves both rainforests and ancestral farming techniques. An alternative to animal and petroleum-based “vegan leathers,” AMAZKIN is a newly-developed scratch-resistant, aesthetic, biodegradable, and sustainable material. Nothing similar is currently on the market. With a profound potential for environmental and social impact, this product prevents deforestation, encourages an eco-sustainable model of development, and empowers Indigenous Amazonian communities to be stewards of their land and natural resources. AMAZKIN’s traceable production chain empowers the consumer to see the Amazon through the lens of activism and conservation, allowing them to collaborate in the protection of the rainforest. This product is an educational tool for intentional consumerism.
