  • Empowering Communities Through Staff-Led Initiatives: Tau's Story Through Santos Foundation Small Grants Program, Santos Ltd staff and contractors are transforming communities across Papua New Guinea. Since 2016, this initiative has supported 269 projects benefitting over 167,000 people. One incredible example is Tau Geno Hoire, GEDSI Adviser at Santos Foundation, who led a food security project in Wairavanua and Vuru villages on the Aroma Coast. Partnering with local leader Michelle Vanua, Tau secured a grant to address climate challenges affecting traditional farming. The project provided tools, seeds, and training in raised-bed gardening—helping 118 community members combat rising sea levels and food insecurity. "These tools and seeds will improve crop cultivation and nutrition," said Ward 11 Women’s Council President, Michelle Vanua. For Tau, this was deeply personal: "Representing Santos Foundation to support my community fills me with immense gratitude." The Santos Foundation Small Grants Program empowers staff to lead initiatives that create lasting change, one community at a time. Jean Martin head of Santos Foundation PNG, stated, “The Santos Foundation Small Grants Program is more than just a funding initiative—it’s a catalyst for empowering staff and contractors to lead community-driven solutions. By harnessing their expertise and passion, the Foundation strengthens resilience and fosters meaningful, lasting change across Papua New Guinea.” Read Tau's Full story here: https://lnkd.in/gsaPG9qE #CommunityImpact #SantosFoundation #SmallGrantsProgram #FoodSecurity

  • We’re proud to support Bel isi PNG in the 2024 End Violence Against Women (EVAW) Walk, held November 22 in Port Moresby. This year’s PNG theme, “It’s My Responsibility – Let’s Work Together to Prevent All Forms of Violence” emphasised the shared responsibility to #EndViolenceAgainstWomen. For a fifth year, the Bel isi PNG organised, EVAW Walk promoted awareness and support for survivors, with leaders like NCD Governor Powes Parkop, Australian Deputy Head of Mission Dr. Joanne Loundes, Bel isi PNG Board Director Doreen Iga joining to advocate for stronger protections for women. Marching from Konedobu Oval to Downtown, participants displayed banners reading, "At work, at home, I will break the silence to end violence," while local musicians inspired resilience. Bel isi PNG Chair Jean Martin thanked supporters, noting, “In 2023, your support helped Bel isi PNG assist 400 survivors. Together, we’re building a safer, more respectful PNG.”  #EVAW2024 #PNG20daysofActivism

  • Since 2016, we are proud that our Literacy Libraries program, reached over 1,700 kids across Gulf, Hela and Southern Highlands. Through our partnership with Buk bilong Pikinini, children are given new learning opportunities that inspire a love for reading, foster creativity, and empower them to achieve their potential.  During National Literacy Week in August this year, kids at our Kikori, Habare, and Pimaga Literacy Libraries explored nutrition through roleplays, budgeting for healthy meals, and hands-on cooking, with parents sharing packed lunches for all. In October this year, the Pimaga Literacy Library celebrated World Animal Day, where children brought their pets, enjoyed animal-themed books, and learned about different species with the guidance of parents and teachers.  Together, we’re dedicated to early childhood learning creating a positive foundation for their future learning and overall well-being. Let’s celebrate a bright future this #ChildrensDay #CommunityDevelopment #SantosFoundation
