In line with its ongoing environmental sustainability efforts, Aboitiz Construction team members capped off the planting of over 1,000 mangrove seedlings during a reforestation activity in Sitio Sulok, Brgy. Lumaniag, Lian, Batangas, on February 15, 2025. Following the groundbreaking event last year, Aboitiz Construction continues its partnership with AMADI MGT Terminals Inc. in the development of the Lagonglong Port, a private commercial facility located in Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental. The project involves the construction of dock facilities, storage areas for perishable goods, and the installation of loading and unloading equipment. The port is expected to be completed later this year and will have the capacity to handle 3.3 million metric tons of bulk cargo annually. The development aims to improve logistics for transporting agricultural products and raw materials, while boosting trade capacity in Mindanao and creating new employment opportunities for the local community. As the official contractor, Aboitiz Construction has employed up to 300 workers during peak seasons, underscoring its commitment to generating local employment. “We are not just building a port; we are fostering economic growth and job creation. Aboitiz Construction’s inaugural Safety, Health, Environment, and Security (SHES) Month initiative won a Silver Anvil Award in the Sustainability Communications category at the 60th Anvil Awards, held on January 28, 2025, at The Manila Hotel. Launched in June 2024, SHES Month featured 16 activities aimed at promoting employee well-being, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. These included wellness challenges, tree planting drives, a mental health webinar, and campaigns to raise awareness about safety and sustainability. This achievement adds to Aboitiz Construction’s growing reputation in public relations as it celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The company previously received notable recognition in 2023 and 2024, earning both an Anvil Award and a Quill Award for the successful launch of its new brand. Aboitiz Construction successfully completed the construction of five warehouses for FAST Logistics Group in Brgy. Tayud, Consolacion, Cebu. Spanning a total construction floor area of 17,315 square meters, the project was delivered in less than a year. The facility consists of five ambient warehouses and ancillary buildings, constructed in two phases. Utilizing Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) steel materials and a steel formwork system, the project showcases Aboitiz Construction's innovative approach to delivering durable and efficient construction solutions. Approximately 300 workers were employed during the project, with 80% of the workforce locally sourced from Cebu, contributing to community development and economic growth. The project also achieved over 800,000 safe man-hours, underscoring the company's strong commitment to safety and quality. Developed in collaboration with MVC Development Corporation, the warehouse complex marks a significant milestone in FAST Logistics Group's expansion efforts.
