Recently, we observed Sustainability Week at the San Miguel head office complex. Our employees came together to celebrate, learn, and commit to initiatives that drive meaningful change. Our Sustainability Runway featured upcycled fashion by our Better World Smokey Mountain nanay-members, while various forums and workshops helped educate employees and sustainability champions on responsible consumption, efficient resource use, and green financing. At our Sustainability Expo, projects from across our businesses highlighted our commitment to circular economy, community empowerment, and environmental conservation. Since 2020, our Better Rivers PH project has removed 8 million tons of silt and waste from 133 kilometers of major rivers—all at no cost to the government. While recent typhoons have brought in eroded soil as well as garbage to rivers we’ve cleaned, our teams are ready to conduct maintenance cleanups where needed. We remain committed to doing our part to help reduce flood risks and protecting more communities. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gGKQejjB

Solving the problem of learning poverty and the lack of access to quality education requires all of us working together. To celebrate Better World Smokey Mountain’s first anniversary, we launched our Better World Lecture Series today! San Miguel HR specialists conducted the Wikahon assessment, a reading aptitude and comprehension test for our BWSM kids. Our speaker and resource person, Karol Mark Yee, PhD, Executive Director of the Congressional Commission on Education, led a discussion about how we can improve our country’s education system. 📚 Bullying, the lack of guidance counselors, unstable source of electricity in schools, and double or triple teaching shifts are just some of the many issues Yee focused on. Now more than ever, we need to do what we can in our own communities and barangays to help improve our country’s educational system so that we can address deficiencies in the primary education and raise a new generation of critical thinkers and learners for a better Philippines. 🇵🇭 #WorldWeWant

Today we’re celebrating our 5th anniversary at Better World Tondo! In light of the fire that broke out in Aromaland that’s left nearly 10,000 people homeless, it’s been a difficult last few days for our families in Tondo. But we’re always reminded of the hope and malasakit we first experienced in the community five years ago, today. Better World Tondo set us on our path to aspire and create a better world for all, and we’re hopeful that in the next couple of years, we’ll be able to continue to uplift more Filipinos, especially those in marginalized communities. Today, together with our partner organizations and Team Malasakit volunteers, we’re celebrating BWT’s anniversary with a mass and food distribution, and by continuing relief efforts for the families affected by the fire. #WorldWeWant
