Pambansang Ragbi Liga Ng Pilipinas recent AGM held Dec 6, 2024 in Makati City Philippines, welcomed the inclusion of three new voting members, a new Trustee and Officer to the association marking a significant milestone for the PNRL. The participation of club presidents (whose teams took part in the 2024 domestic season) at the AGM as the new voting members, and who attended both physically and virtually highlights the commitment and enthusiasm for rugby league in the Philippines. This expansion reflects the hard work and the strategic efforts of the Philippines board to enhance participation and strengthen the governance in Philippine rugby league. The enthusiasm shown by clubs eager to join the league is a promising sign of the sport's growth and potential within the country. New members: Andy Brown - Gorillas Rugby Romario Capule – Manila Storm China Catherine Disonglo – Pampanga Panthers RL Dennis Aboniawan – Braves RFC (Not present at AGM) The association is also delighted to welcome Atty Michaela Camitan as the new Corporate Secretary responsible for the association’s legal matters and government information filing, Michaela has replaced outgoing member at the time, Atty Edson Byron Sy. The PNRL have been blessed to have Atty Edson on the board as one of the original Trustees and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours in government. The PNRL are also excited to announce Chris Orta (pictured) who takes the position as Trustee and Treasurer for the association replacing previous Trustee Atty Edson. Chris is a seasoned hospitality professional with over 33 years of experience in leadership roles across the luxury hotel and resort industry. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the association, and as Trustee and Treasurer of the Pambansang Ragbi Liga Ng Pilipinas, Chris combines his expertise in business and his love for sports to inspire, organize, and elevate the game of rugby league in the Philippines. A firm believer in nurturing talent at the grassroots level, Chris is passionate about introducing the game to Filipino youth in the provinces, ensuring the next generation has access to the opportunities and values that rugby league provides. With a clear vision and unwavering commitment, Chris is proud to be part of the PNRL driving the growth of this great sport in the Philippines. It’s an exciting time for rugby league in the country, and we look forward to seeing how these changes bring a positive impact to the domestic season and the sport's overall growth. PAGPAPAHALAGA NG PNRL – PROPESYONALISMO – PAG-AALAGA – PAGGALANG - PAMUNUAN Pambansang Ragbi Liga NG Pilipinas (PNRL) is the governing body of Rugby League Football in the Philippines. Ang misyon nito ay paganahin ang lahat ng Pilipino na magkaroon ng malusog na pamumuhay sa pamamagitan ng kanilang paglahok sa Rugby League Football at sa pamamagitan ng ating mga pinahahalagahan. Ang PNRL ay non-profit volunteer organization, na kinikilalang miyembro ng Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Sports Commission, at miyembro ng rugby league governing boidies, Asia-Pacific Rugby League Confederation (APRLC) at International Rugby League (IRL). Ang pokus ng PNRL ay ang pagsulong, pagpapaunlad, at mahusay na pangangasiwa ng Rugby League sa Pilipinas, at upang maging mapagkumpitensya sa mga bansang naglalaro ng Asian Rugby League. With the closing of 2024, we’d like to share the end of year IRL 2024 rugby league world rankings. Our national men’s team climbed up to #23 from the half yearly ranking of #27. This jump was contributed to the fantastic come from behind victory against the sanctioned match again Malta at Friendship Cup 2024. Our national women’s team have dropped four places from the half yearly ranking of #15 to now #19. The Sampaguitas did not play a sanctioned test match in 2024, but be on the look out for their games in 2025. Well done to both our senior national teams! 🇵🇭

The PNRL are proud to have nationally debuted 17 of our domestic rugby league players in the international match against Hong Kong China RL. Please join us in congratulating them once again. They have made their clubs and hometown’s proud. President Reynaldo Nery and Philippine Sports Commission Commissioner for Rugby League Olivia Bong Coo met yesterday to discuss International rugby league events to be staged in the Philippines next year after the PNRL hosted a successful international friendly in Manila last Sunday Dec 1 against Hong Kong Rugby League Commissioner Bong Coo was also pleased to hear the PNRL had fielded a side of 17 domestic players with 14 debutants in the match against Hong Kong China.
