IN PHOTOS: SGV hosts 2024 FinCrime forum SGV's 2024 FinCrime Forum, sponsored by SymphonyAI, was held on 15 November 2024 at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati, focusing on "Collaborative Vigilance: Transforming FinCrime with Risk Intelligence." The forum aimed to enhance financial crime risk management strategies and emphasized collaboration against money laundering. The program started with opening remarks from SGV Vice Chair and Deputy Managing Partner Maria Vivian Ruiz. The Keynote speakers from the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), SymphonyAI, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) then provided updates on Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards, discussed current financial crime trends, and outlined regulatory expectations. The event also explored the role of AI in financial crime management. Organized by SGV's Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) team, led by Veronica Arce Balisi, the forum included panel discussions moderated by SGV Partner Christian Lauron and Veronica. The morning session featured AMLC Executive Director Atty. Matthew David, who discussed FATF updates and the Philippine regulatory landscape, and AMLC Deputy Director Atty. Arnold Arpon, who covered financial crime trends, including risks associated with Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs). In recognition of their collaborative mission, the forum participants also paid tribute to AMLC Accredited Trainers through a ceremony featuring a puzzle, symbolizing their collective journey and efforts in capacity building to support the AMLC. Among the AMLC Accredited Trainers who attended the Forum were then EY Asia-Pacific FSO Risk Management Leader Vicky L. Salas, Adviser to the Association of Bank Compliance Officers (ABCOMP), President of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Dante Fuentes and Asian Development Bank (ADB) Integrity Due Diligence Consultant Alphecca Adolfo-Madrid. The afternoon session focused on AI's role in combating financial crime, featuring insights from Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation Chief Compliance Officer Brent C. Estrella, BSP Manager Atty. Vernice Lauren Roman Eustaquio, and Craig Robertson from SymphonyAI. Panelists received certificates from Christian, Veronica, Vicky, and SGV Chairman Wilson Tan in recognition of their contributions. The event concluded with discussions on the Philippines' efforts to exit the FATF's grey list and the BSP's commitment to consumer protection, along with closing remarks from SGV Consulting Leader Rossana Fajardo.
