The USAID's IHSS-SD Activity, in collaboration with key stakeholders, held a meeting on implementing hospital TB linkages under the HTL initiative. Need and Intervention: It is part of the intervention package of USAID-supported TB LON Activity. Under the USAID-funded Dopasi Foundation-led TB Local Organizations Network (TB LON), Contech International conducted an in-depth analysis of patient pathways across all 17 secondary and tertiary level hospitals in 6 intervention districts of Sindh, including Karachi East, Karachi Central, Keamari, Matiari, Badin, and Jamshoro. The analysis combined both qualitative and quantitative methods, including on-site observations and collection of data from the facilities against a specified set of indicators. The hospital briefs cover aspects such as the availability of OPD/IPD services, diagnostic and treatment facilities, referral linkages, service delivery delays, patient losses, and staff training needs. Contech International, as the implementing partner of the USAID-funded IHSS-SD Activity, is conducting a thorough assessment of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices across 57 secondary and tertiary hospitals in 16 districts of Sindh and 22 hospitals in 8 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under IHSS-SD GHS Component. This initiative, in collaboration with the Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Departments of Health, aim to assess IPC readiness and identify resource gaps to enhance health security and strengthen IPC practices in these critical regions.
