We are proud to share that SQA team lead by Barrister Farrukh K. Qureshi acted as Pakistan counsel for the claimant in the recent decision by International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The Tribunal assumed jurisdiction over the claims of Turkish company Bayindir, addressing Pakistan’s international obligations under the Turkey-Pakistan Bilateral Investment Treaty and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Treaty. This case, stemming from the termination of Bayindir’s $650 million contract for Pakistan’s M-1 Motorway, highlights critical aspects of cross-border dispute resolution and international investment law. We are excited to share that our Senior Partner, Mr. hamid sharif, has been reappointed for another four-year term as a member of the International Commercial Expert Committee of the Supreme People’s Court. On September 25, the Fourth Seminar of the International Commercial Expert Committee convened, featuring the induction of new members and the renewal of terms for existing ones. During this event, Mr. Hamid Sharif delivered an insightful speech on 'Cross-border Judicial Cooperation in Commercial Courts: International Agreements and Judicial Practice.' The seminar was honored by the presence of Zhang Jun, Chief Justice of the People's Republic of China and President of the Supreme People’s Court, who presented the appointment and renewal certificates to the expert members.
