On February 5, 2025, Ministerstwo Cyfryzacji released the second draft of the #AI Systems Act, incorporating some feedback from public consultations, including AI Chamber’s input. While improvements are evident – specially the introduction of regulatory #sandboxes – critical concerns remain.🚨 👉 #Transparency Gap – the absence of a comment table makes it difficult to assess which recommendations were accepted and why. 👉 #KRiBSI’s Structure – the governance model remains unnecessarily complex, raising concerns about decision-making efficiency and political misuse. 👉 #Regulatory Risks – vague criteria for AI bans, particularly regarding election influence, pose significant risks to businesses. 👉 #Innovation Support – regulatory sandboxes are a step forward, but their success depends on accessibility and streamlined processes. #AIChamber remains engaged in the legislative process, advocating for a regulatory framework that fosters AI innovation while ensuring legal clarity and market stability. 🔎 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gZ5TZkuU #AIRegulations #ArtificialIntelligence #AIRegulation #Innovation #TechPolicy #FutureOfAI

🎉 Today's open meeting with Professor Piotr Sankowski brought together key figures from business, innovation, and startups for a highly insightful discussion on the future of #AI in Poland. A huge thank you to Karol Jedliński (hagen_comm) for expertly moderating the discussion and ensuring a high-level, dynamic exchange of ideas. Here are some key insights from Professor Sankowski: 🔹 The role of the state is crucial in #AI development – Poland needs a stronger, multi-level strategy, focusing on #technology transfer. 🔹 Bridging the gap between #academia and #business is essential – scientific research in Poland is often too theoretical, while businesses invest too little in innovation. Instead of funding research that generates intellectual property (#IP) and groundbreaking technologies, companies prioritize cost-cutting and incremental improvements, which limits long-term #competitiveness. 🔹 Investing into the #defense AI should be our priority - geopolitical factors make this a natural area where Poland can excel. Unlike commercial AI, where strict EU regulations limit innovation (e.g., copyright restrictions on training AI models), AI for defense operates with fewer legal barriers. Given Poland’s #strategicposition, AI-driven defense solutions should be a key focus, ensuring technological #sovereignty and #security. 🔹 Regulations? The fewer, the better! #Overregulation slows down progress and increases costs. Companies are forced to hire entire compliance teams just to navigate legal complexities, making innovation expensive and time-consuming. Poland should push for AI-friendly policies that encourage rapid experimentation and deployment. 🔹 Poland must find its AI #niche - we need a long-term approach instead of reacting to short-term trends. It is nearly impossible to predict which AI technologies will dominate the market in the next 10 years or which will become the most profitable. That’s why Poland must invest strategically and instead of merely following what’s happening now, we must create a long-term vision that fosters sustainable #AIdevelopment and positions Poland as a leader in selected AI specializations. 🔹 We are at a breakthrough moment - AI solutions surpassing human intelligence are on the horizon. Without immediate investment, Poland risks falling behind not just in technology, but in development as a whole. 🔹With the establishment of the #IDEAS Research Institute, Poland has an opportunity to foster #disruptiveAI innovation and build a strong AI ecosystem. The challenge now is to ensure that this initiative delivers groundbreaking research that translates into real-world #impact. 📢 Stay tuned for the full event summary soon on the Chamber’s website!

🚨 More voices unite: 12 organizations from across Europe have already signed our open letter on GPAI Code of Conduct - and more are signing every day. Will yours be next? ⚠️ With the European Commission now delaying the release of the third draft, we urgently call on all EU organizations to join us and sign the open letter. Why is this critical? Because the longer we wait, the greater the risk that excessive, impractical regulations will become the norm - pushing European AI innovation out of the global race. The General Purpose AI (#GPAI) Code of Conduct in its current form risks harming #startups and #SMEs, and weakening Europe’s global #competitiveness. ✅ The time to act is NOW. Additionally, AI Chamber has requested a meeting with Henna Virkkunen to continue the dialogue and push for a Code that supports a thriving, competitive #AI ecosystem in Europe. 🤝 Proud to stand with these co-signatories: 🔹 Tomek Snazyk – CEO – AI Chamber 🔹 Csongor Biás – MD – Startup Hungary 🔹 Theodor V Panayotov – CIO – DNA Bulgaria 🔹 Europuls - Centrul de Expertiza Europeana – Center of European Expertise 🔹 Michal Kanownik – CEO – Związek Cyfrowa Polska 🔹 Michal Kardosš – Executive Director – Slovak Alliance for Innovation Economy (SAPIE) 🔹 Olga Kyryliuk – Chair – South Eastern European Dialogue on Internet Governance (SEEDIG) 🔹 Przemyslaw Kusmierek – CEO – Migam 🔹 Maciej Witucki – President – Polish Confederation Lewiatan 🔹 Corina Vasile – Executive Director – ANIS Romania 🔹 Jakub Bińkowski – Board Member – ZPP 🔹 Diana Popp – Co-founder & Vice-President – Smart Everything Everywhere 🔹 Milena Jaburkovaá – Vice-president – Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic 📢 Contact us and sign the letter here: https://lnkd.in/djH6H6iZ #AIChamber #AIRegulation #ArtificialIntelligence #EUAIAct #GPAICode #FutureOfAI

📢 This week, the #AI ecosystem awaited the third draft of the General Purpose AI (#GPAI) Code of Conduct. Yet, instead of the expected release, we learned of a delay. The reason? The #AIOffice emphasized the need for additional time to ensure the draft "best reflects the comprehensive feedback received from diverse stakeholder categories and is legally robust." 📰 Is this decision a sign of progress? As our CEO Tomek Snazyk rightly pointed out in the latest Fortune article: – We are optimistic that this is a sign that the [Commission] is taking its commitments to better support innovation seriously and an indication of a change of mindset on the part of the AI Office and the drafting committee. And he adds on behalf of the Chamber and all those who signed the last open letter: – One of the major issues we had flagged is the lack of proper consideration of all stakeholders' comments, so this is a positive chance of practice. Quality of the text should not be compromised to satisfy arbitrary timelines. The text still needs a lot of improvement which is apparent now to the Chairs, as well as all those involved on the industry side. While the European Commission has yet to confirm when the third draft will be available – or whether this pause reflects a broader effort to avoid unnecessary obligations on tech companies – this moment invites optimism. The AI Office's move suggests a potential shift in mindset – prioritizing #quality over speed, #collaboration over imposition. 🔎 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dDReExTq #AIChamber #AIRegulations #ArtificialIntelligence #AIRegulation #Innovation #TechPolicy #FutureOfAI

🚨 10 leading organizations from the #AI, #startup, and #SME sectors have signed an open letter led by #AIChamber, raising serious concerns about the Second Draft of the General Purpose AI (#GPAI) Code of Conduct. While intended to support #AIAct compliance, the current draft goes too far, imposing excessive obligations that could stifle innovation, harm startups and SMEs, and weaken Europe's global competitiveness: 🔹 Overly complex regulations 🔹 Unfeasible compliance measures 🔹 Excessive disclosure requirements that risk public security & trade secrets 🔹 New burdens beyond the AI Act itself. With the final version expected by April 2025 and the AI Act taking effect in August, the time to act is now. AI Chamber has already submitted official recommendations and requested a meeting with Henna Virkkunen to ensure AI businesses in Europe remain competitive on the global stage. 📢 We urge industry stakeholders to join us and sign the letter. Let’s ensure AI regulation supports – not suffocates – innovation. ➡️ Read more here: https://lnkd.in/djH6H6iZ #AIRegulation #ArtificialIntelligence #EUAIAct #Innovation
