The historic building dating back to 1923, part of the #CityLife neighborhood in Milan and of the European #realestate portfolio managed by Generali Real Estate, will soon return to its original purpose: a covered public square and a new landmark for large events. 🏗 This versatile, multi-functional building, with its late-liberty style exterior, is undergoing a respectful restoration project that will incorporate state-of-the-art technology, and make it a prime example of #sustainability. 📌 CityOval Milano will become a landmark for the cultural, social, and economic development of Milan and beyond. Switching off the lights on February 16 for #MIlluminodiMeno, the Italian National Day for #EnergySaving and Sustainable Lifestyles, to raise awareness about energy conservation and #sustainability through responsible behaviors, promoted by Rai Radio 2. 💡 By turning off the lights of our iconic buildings in Italy - the Generali Tower in Milan, Palazzo Berlam in Trieste, our headquarters in Via Bissolati in Rome, and the Home of The Human Safety Net Foundation at the Procuratie Vecchie in St. Mark's Square in Venice - we aim to act for a more sustainable and inclusive future and send a visible message to promote sustainability. #Generali4Sustainability #GRE4Sustainability

This is why real estate is a greenfield for #data and #AI: unlike industries with established innovation paths, we are building from scratch, challenging conventions, and defining what “data-driven” means in this asset class. It is precisely here, in this low-data-driven space at the intersection of #technology and talent, that true, substantial innovation can spark. ✨ True to our ambition to be changemakers in this industry, we wanted to celebrate our innovation path so far and get a glimpse of what’s next, in a company-wide event bringing together our colleagues, innovators, and leaders from across the company and beyond, around the theme #MakeItReal.   💬 We invited Zack Kass, futurist and former Head of GTM at OpenAI, to help us explore the many ways technology and data can empower people and expand human potential; and Luca Foresti, founder of First Principles and former CEO of Centro Medico Santagostino, for an eye-opening view of how data are used in a different sector.   🥁 We celebrated the results of 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 and 𝗔𝗜 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿, internal initiatives involving colleagues to foster the tech- and data-driven transformation of our business: 12+ AI solutions are already in production in different areas of the business, and many more are on the way. This state-of-the-art logistics asset, strategically located and fully leased to Grupo Transaher, meets the highest #ESG standards, with a #BREEAM New Construction Excellent certification. 🚚 Logistic Park Montornés is a perfect addition to our European portfolio of logistics parks in Italy, France, Poland, the Netherlands and, now, Spain. 🎓 We had the honor of sharing our concrete experience in #realestate #sustainability with a distinguished group of professors from RICS Accredited Universities during the #RICSEuropeanEducationForum, organized by RICS in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and #RICSinItaly on January 16. 🎤 The event featured a keynote on #ESG and the Italian real estate market, with application examples from the Generali Real Estate portfolio, presented by our Head of ESG, Gloria Brocchi - MRICS. 💬 Later, the participants met Marco Beccati, CityLife S.p.A Technical Director, at the Generali Tower in CityLife, for an overview of CityLife’s history, the construction challenges of the Generali Tower, and the impressive #CityWave construction site. For the very specialized audience, this was a particularly interesting opportunity to dive into CityLife from an #architecture and #engineering perspective. A big thank you to RICS in Europe, Roberto Calamandrei, Jill Behrens, and Anna Galiano for involving us and for the superb organization!

Thanks to #LineaVerdeItalia, the premier Rai - Radiotelevisione Italiana program dedicated to discovering environmental projects and innovations in Italian cities, for visiting the #CityWave construction site in CityLife during the episode dedicated to Milan!   CityWave’s unique architecture, designed by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group, will feature two buildings connected by a canopy, creating a new covered public space for the neighborhood. This engineering masterpiece will have its roof and canopy covered with #photovoltaic panels, with a surface area larger than a football field: this will significantly contribute to the building’s energy supply using renewable sources, and reduce #CO2emissions equivalent to planting 500 trees.   We look forward to the topping of the building in the next few months, and to seeing CityWave completed by the end of 2026!
