Big day for us at the Narodowe Centrum Badań Jądrowych (National Centre for Nuclear Research) and Radioisotope Centre POLATOM as our MARIA Reactor celebrates 50th anniversary! During the ceremony, it was repeatedly emphasized that MARIA Reactor is a unique example of Polish research infrastructure with significance extending beyond Poland's borders. “For us MARIA Reactor is crucial element in serving the needs of domestic and foreign customers in the nuclear medicine industry by providing innovative solutions to protect health, which is the highest value for us” – said during his speech Tomasz Dziel, director of Radioisotope Centre POLATOM. In parallel, there is another reason for celebration today. On October 25th 1897, Andrzej Sołtan, one of the most outstanding Polish physicists of the 20th century, was born in Warsaw. Nuclear Medicine interactive platform We are happy to announce the major update of resources aimed to increase public awareness of Nuclear Medicine. The website "What is nuclear medicine?" (https://lnkd.in/e4UCvncV) – a Nuclear Medicine Europe initiative (a joint effort of its members) has been updated with the newest interactive platform. Hygieia.site (https://lnkd.in/d_mNAnZC), named after mythological goddess of health, allows to explore the most common medical isotopes and their medical purpose. It has been four years since the begining of #SINFONIA project which developed novel methodologies and tools to provide a comprehensive risk appraisal for detrimental effects of radiation exposure to patients, workers, carers and comforters, the public and the environment during the management of patients suspected or diagnosed with lymphoma, breast and brain tumours.
