  • Microsoft #PowerBI has become a top platform for visualizing and analyzing data. The recent addition of Copilot, an AI-powered feature, has greatly advanced its data analysis capabilities. It acts as an intelligent assistant, using natural language processing and machine learning to help users create reports, generate insights, and explore their data. 📊   What are the key functionalities Copilot offers within Power BI? 🔹 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 - automatically generates insights from data, identifying key trends and anomalies, and suggesting potential areas of interest for further exploration. 🔹 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - enhances data storytelling by translating complex data points and visual trends into easy-to-understand language. 🔹 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 – suggests visualizations and provide recommendations for optimizing report layouts and interactivity. This functionality makes it easier for users to create insightful, dynamic reports quickly, ensuring data is presented clearly and effectively (pages cannot be edited afterwards). 🔹 𝐃𝐀𝐗 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 - simplifies the creation of common calculations without requiring extensive knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (#DAX). These pre-defined measures allow users to quickly generate calculations like averages, percentage changes by selecting from a list of standard options (it can mostly create very simple measures that will be used without additional context). 🔹 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 - provides clear explanations of each measure's calculations, detailing the purpose and logic used. This improves understanding and collaboration by making it easier for users to interpret and use the measures in reports and dashboards 🔹 𝐃𝐀𝐗 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐲 - analyzes your uploaded dataset to recommend suitable function. Additionally, if you're unsure about a function's purpose, you can paste it into Copilot for a detailed explanation.   💡 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐈 𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐞𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐚 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞-𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚. Copilot speeds up report creation, encourages exploration, and supports data-driven decision-making with its natural language interface, contextual suggestions, and AI assistance.   At this stage, the functionalities described above still have bugs that may lead to some doubts about whether to fully trust Copilot’s suggestions, but Microsoft is constantly developing its #AI tools, so we are sure #Copilot will reach its full potential soon. 📨 If you have any questions or would like to know more details on how to take advantage of Copilot in Power BI, contact our experts! • The procurement process plays a critical role for many of our clients whose businesses are based on #manufacturing. They need to ensure the seamless acquisition of necessary components and services to produce the final products they distribute in the market.   We support them by delivering advanced #BI analytics that help to resolve process bottlenecks and overcome operational challenges. Comprehensive reports assist them in establishing a smooth, predictable flow and discovering cost efficiencies.   Below, we unveil the top 3 challenges our clients face: 🔹 𝐌𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 – These are the expenses that deviate from established procedures, often resulting from time-consuming, inefficient processes and poorly designed acceptance workflows. Detailed spending analysis is pivotal to determine the main drivers of maverick spending. 🔹 𝐈𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 – The lack of regular vendor performance evaluation results in hurdles when trying to optimize and consolidate vendors. Identifying high-performers could potentially unlock opportunities for discounts. 🔹 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 – Uncertainty regarding price fluctuations can significantly impact a company’s budgeting and overall financial performance. This instability may result in squeezed profit margins and difficulties in maintaining competitive pricing for end products. It's critical to monitor price changes and notify procurement managers when price variations exceed certain thresholds.   𝐀𝐧 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲; 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞. • Incorporating UX/UI (User Experience/User Interface) best practices when creating reporting solutions is crucial in delivering valuable insights in a user-friendly manner. By understanding audience, prioritizing information hierarchy, maintaining simplicity and consistency, implementing intuitive navigation, visualizing data effectively and conducting user testing, you can prepare reports and dashboards that not only show the data but also provide a positive and engaging user experience. 📊   There are multiple options that could enhance user experience, but our main focus should be on implementing the following rules:   🔹 𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 Consider your audience's perspective when designing your layout. Place vital information in the upper left corner for easy access, such as high-level data and key performance indicators (KPIs). Progress horizontally and vertically to unveil more detailed insights gradually. Tailor the level of detail to suit different user types; keep summaries concise for those needing a general overview, while offering expansive options for analytical teams to delve into data at various depths.   🔹 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 Simplicity is key in UX/UI design. Avoid unnecessary elements that may distract or overwhelm users. Maintain a consistent design while using fonts, colors, icons, navigation, filtering and other elements throughout the report. It would ensure readability of the report and is very useful while creating several pages in one report, or a series of reports that could be consumed in similar way.   🔹 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 Ensure visualizations serve a purpose and match the data type. They should clearly convey the story, using appropriate charts, graphs, and infographics. Pay attention to details like titles, labels, legends, and customization for added clarity and information.   🔹 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬 Color choice is crucial in report design, impacting aesthetics, brand identity, and data clarity. Use colors judiciously to highlight key information and avoid distractions. Align color themes with the company's brand book or website when collaborating with clients, enhancing cohesion and visual consistency.   🔹 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐩𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭 Using external layout applications offers flexibility by creating backgrounds, allowing incorporation of multiple elements without rendering them directly on report page. Tools like Adobe XD or Figma provide enhanced layout capabilities beyond Power BI visuals, facilitating outstanding design preparation.   🔎 Do you always follow these fundamental rules when creating reports, or do have another approach to enhance the user experience of solutions?   #BusinessIntelligence #PowerBI #Datavisualization
