“Dr. Kate Kinsella’s research and curricular tool is unmatched for language development. It makes a life-changing difference for both the teacher and the students.” More than 5.1 million students are classified as multilingual learners (MLs), making up more than 10% of the U.S. student population. 📈 English 3D is a K–12 English language development program first designed by Dr. Kate Kinsella, and it supports MLs at all proficiency levels, including newcomers and long-term English learners. HMH partnered with Forge Research Group to analyze English 3D’s impact on seventh- and eighth-grade MLs from four of the junior high schools located in Community Consolidated School District 15 (CCSD 15) in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois—where over 85 languages are spoken throughout CCSD 15. There are seemingly endless possibilities for GenAI in the world and in classrooms, and this is an important moment to take stock of educators’ needs so we can equip them with the tools for success. That’s where policymakers play a crucial role. By making policy that’s aligned with best practices and federal laws, policymakers can help educators leverage the time-saving benefits of GenAI, so they can focus on student engagement. GenAI tools that help teachers with administrative tasks and create, supplement, and review materials like study guides, worksheets, lesson plans, and writing prompts can tremendously up free teachers’ time and allow them to focus on what they do best—engaging with students. 🙌 Explore how GenAI can help ease teacher burnout on the HMH Shaped blog: http://spr.ly/6048QcDeK
