REGA ENERGY
Geração de energia renovável
Renewable energy company focused on accelerating the advent of a sustainable industry with Biomethane and Green Hydrogen
Sobre nós
At REGA ENERGY we can help industries decarbonise. Electricity represents today only 20% of final energy consumption. Whatever can be electrified should be - but not all industries can electrify easily: cement, glass, ceramics, chemicals, steel, amongst others. To reach climate neutrality with some leading on challenging 2030 milestones, Europe needs to develop a complementary energy vector to the electron, to decarbonise what cannot be electrified. REGA ENERGY believes in the journey of developing, financing, building, owning and operating biomethane & green hydrogen plants delivering through RGPA contracts and direct delivery to industrial companies.

We’re pleased to have participated in COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. At COP29 Azerbaijan, João Rosa Santos, REGA ENERGY’s Head of Business Development, had the honor of joining a high-level panel discussion at the Portuguese Pavilion on “Turning Iberia into Europe’s Cleantech Industrial Hub.” This panel provided an invaluable platform to discuss how the Iberian Peninsula can lead Europe’s green reindustrialization. Together with Spain, Portugal has significant competitive advantages—especially in its availability of clean electricity and, soon, renewable gases—that can drive a “Made in Portugal, Made Sustainable” industrial ecosystem. Nevertheless, significant challenges remain. We must develop regulation and finance, foster innovation and risk-taking, and stimulate demand for clean energy, particularly within hard-to-abate sectors. Special thanks to our partners Cleantech for Iberia and Bianca Dragomir for making this conversation possible, and to our fellow panelists: Maria Da Graça Carvalho, Portuguese Minister for Environment and Energy; Jean-Christophe Laloux, Director General for Operations at the European Investment Bank (EIB); Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director-General at the European Commission (DG ENERGY); and Alberto Toril Castro, Europe Power Sector Manager at Breakthrough Energy, for an inspiring dialogue. As we work to accelerate the advent of a sustainable industry by supporting energy-intensive industries on their path to decarbonization, we’re excited to be part of a movement driving meaningful, positive change in the European economy. #energythatmatters #REGAENERGY #COP29 #MadeInPortugalMadeSustainable #Portugal

REGA ENERGY and Leerdam Crisal Glass have signed a landmark long-term Renewable Gas Purchase Agreement. REGA ENERGY's new production plant will supply Leerdam Crisal Glass’ Marinha Grande facility in Portugal with green hydrogen and green oxygen. Leerdam Crisal Glass is now setting up a state-of-the-art furnace in Marinha Grande. This unit will increase the electrification of one of CRISAL’s glass melting furnaces up to a maximum of 80%, significantly reducing its reliance on fossil fuels. The remaining natural gas consumption will be gradually replaced by renewable gases supplied by REGA ENERGY. This partnership will help Leerdam Crisal Glass execute its decarbonization plan in Portugal, aiming to become one of the most sustainable glassware producers in Europe. Antoine Jordans, CEO of Leerdam Crisal Glass, commented: “LCGlass, supported by its investor Anders Invest, sees this agreement as a major first step towards decarbonizing glass production. The positive support from the Portuguese government and the European Union makes it viable for CRISAL to invest toward this goal. We are looking forward to working together with REGA on this major project.” Thomas Carrier, CEO of REGA ENERGY, stated: “Made in Portugal” products are a reference for excellence thanks to their quality, competitiveness, traceability, social and supply chain resilience. In Portugal, renewable resources are abundant - wind, sun and hydro make the country’s electricity close to fully renewable: 82% first half of 2024. Here, with our long-term partnership, CRISAL will produce in a more sustainable way, maximising the electrification of its industrial process and consuming REGA’s green hydrogen and green oxygen for the remaining part. We are proud of this collective journey – at REGA ENERGY, our mission is to support many other hard-to-abate industries in Portugal, ultimately delivering with our renewable energy, in order to manufacture some of the most sustainable products in the world. “Made in Portugal. Made sustainable”. Learn more about this partnership here: https://lnkd.in/d5sx429s Made in Portugal. Made Sustainable. #REGAENERGY #energythatmatters #MadeinPortugalMadeSustainable
