Spin.Works is an aerospace company established in 2006 that develops optical instruments, computer vision, AI and navigation & control systems for Earth observation and planetary missions to the Moon, Mars and small bodies. Spin.Works has developed and runs www.mapp.it, a subscription-based app that uses AI & remote sensing to provide plant-level insights. MAPP.it is supplying the top wine growers in Portugal since 2017 and have since expanded operations to 3 continents. Spin.Works also develops image processing software for detection systems based on opto-electronic sensors applied to various applications for the Aeronautics, Space and Defence markets, as well as end-to-end engineering and integration for ground segment satellite communication systems, ready to deploy shelters for critical applications and space mechanisms.

📣 Sucesso do Lançamento do Satélite AEROS MH-1 e Inicio das Comunicações - 19 Março 2024 - 14:54:19 UTC 📡 A missão Transporter-10 da SpaceX, lançada no passado dia 4 de março às 22h05min UTC, marcou um marco significativo com o lançamento bem-sucedido do satélite AEROS MH-1. Este lançamento histórico, conduzido pelo lançador Falcon 9, colocou o satélite em órbita terrestre, abrindo portas para uma nova era de observação do oceano Atlântico.🌍 Após o lançamento bem-sucedido, o satélite AEROS MH-1 estabilizou a sua órbita e estabeleceu comunicações essenciais hoje pelas 14:54:19 UTC através do Teleporto de Santa Maria, localizado nos Açores e operado pela Thales Edisoft Portugal. Este marco crucial demonstra a capacidade técnica e operacional do consórcio em garantir o funcionamento eficiente e eficaz do satélite.🛰 Este sucesso representa não apenas um marco para o consórcio envolvido, mas também para a comunidade científica e tecnológica de Portugal. O satélite AEROS MH-1 simboliza o potencial do país no domínio da exploração espacial e reforça seu papel como um participante ativo e inovador na arena global da pesquisa espacial. “Durante as próximas semanas, vamos dar inicio as operações e monitorização do estado de funcionamento e integridade do satélite, bem como dos seus sensores.” cita a equipa do AEROS MH-1 da Thales Edisoft Portugal. O AEROS MH-1 agora orbita a uma altitude de 510 quilómetros da Terra, posicionando-se estrategicamente para realizar observações detalhadas do oceano Atlântico. Esta posição privilegiada permitirá uma análise aprofundada dos fenómenos oceânicos, contribuindo para uma melhor compreensão dos ecossistemas marinhos e dos padrões climáticos. Liderado pela Thales Edisoft Portugal, em colaboração com o CEiiA // Centre of Engineering and Product Development, o projeto AEROS envolveu um consórcio de 12 entidades, incluindo as empresas, Spin.Works e dstelecom, e a Universidade do Minho, Universidade do Porto, Universidade do Algarve, Instituto Superior Técnico, Colab +ATLANTIC, Okeanos - Institute of Marine Sciences and AIR Centre - Atlantic International Research Centre. O nome "MH-1" atribuído ao satélite é uma homenagem a Manuel Heitor, ex-ministro da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior de Portugal. Spin.Works’ Hyperspectral Camera about to Launch into Space with AEROS 🛰️ After several years in design, development and testing, Spin.Works’ first camera, HS1, will be launched by a SpaceX Falcon 9 in early March, on board the AEROS nano satellite. It has been an exciting several years where the team at Spin.Works developed the electronics, software, opto-mechanical, thermal and image processing technologies behind this hyperspectral instrument, built and integrated all these components into a functional camera, and successfully tested them under highly demanding conditions representative of launch and orbital environments. We would also like to send a note of appreciation to all our consortium partners, and especially to the steady leadership of Thales Edisoft Portugal that allowed AEROS to reach this phase. And of course, we look forward to the next steps in this success story.
