Portuguese Pediatric Research National Network, and National Hub for the Conect4Children (c4) project
Sobre nós
STAND4Kids is the Portuguese Research National Network created as a National Hub for pediatric clinical trials for the Conect4Children (c4) project (www.conect4children.org) in Portugal. @c4c is a large collaborative pan-European network aiming to optimise the delivery of clinical trials in children. STAND4Kids aims to establish a sustainable, lean, fit-for-purpose, national pediatric trial network that facilitates high-quality, child/family- and clinically-relevant, operationally efficient pediatric clinical trials in Portugal. Our network includes 10 pediatric hospital sites across the country, most within academic clinical centres with dedicated research units, experience, expertise and capacity in conducting pediatric research. STAND4KIDS is hosted by Association for Research and Development of the Faculty of Medicine (AIDFM), a non-profit and public benefit association that promotes biomedical research at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidade de Lisboa and it has the Sociedade Portuguesa de Pediatria (SPP), and Faculdade de Medicina of the Universidade de Lisboa (FMUL) as Third Parties. Our key areas of activity: • to establish a single national contact point for pediatric clinical trials, including c4c proof-of-viability studies; • to oversee and support feasibility requests at national and site level for pediatric clinical trials and clinical research studies; • to oversee and support site setup and readiness, study execution, performance and quality for c4c and other pediatric studies conducted in the network; • to disseminate and support the implementation of standards and training activities for the development and qualification and capacity building of national sites; • to engage, foster and provide a forum for stakeholders, including patient organizations and Young Person’s Advisory Groups (YPAG); • to promote and disseminate activity and outputs of clinical trials.

Catarina Raposo was born in Lisbon and is 22 years old. Ever since she was little, she has been driven by an insatiable curiosity and, as a child, she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, a historian and a teacher, motivated by the desire to make a difference. With many passions, choosing just one was never easy, and it was this diversity of interests that always pushed her to explore new paths. At the age of 6, she started on an 11-year journey into the world of music. The violin shaped her life, and much of who she is today is due to music. Despite this passion, she decided to pursue another interest: health. She graduated in Biomedical Sciences from the Universidade de Aveiro and is currently studying at the Master's Degree in Clinical Research from the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa. It was during her master's that she discovered the area of Pediatric Clinical Trials, which combines everything that motivates her, finding a way to unite her scientific curiosity with the desire to make a difference. She is currently doing her Master's internship at our National Network collaborating in activities to support the implementation and management of pediatric clinical trials. We hope that this internship will be an enriching experience and full of success! _______________________________________________________________ #STAND4Kids #Pedicatricclinicalresearch #Health #Training #Internship

𝐜𝟒𝐜 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 On 13 & 14 November 2024, our team participated joinly with Prof. M Paula Macedo, Vice-President of AICIB - Agência de Investigação Clínica e Inovação Biomédica, at the c4c International Symposium, which was held in Amesterdam. This key event was fundamental to celebrate the success of the conect4children (c4c) project, to share the achievements and results of the c4c project, including the start-up of the not for profit, c4c-S (conect4children Stichting), that continues outside of the c4c consortium. By sharing the c4c successes it was also shown how future partners will be able to use the results of the project. Our huge thank you to the teams that organized this valuable iniciative in pediatric research: University of Liverpool, Penta Foundation - Child Health Research __________________________________________________________ #collaboration #clinicaltrials #medicineforchildren #c4c #conect4childrenStichting #pediatricresearch

Carolina Neves is 23 years old and grew up in Riachos, Torres Novas. Her favourite movie is Mamma Mia, which combines two of her favourite hobbies, music and cinema. When she was just one year old, her parents enrolled her in swimming, and her passion for the sport was so great that she still competes today. She also loves to read, finding books a “𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑡𝑜 𝑟𝑒𝑙𝑎𝑥 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑙𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑛𝑒𝑤 𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑠”. Her interest in health began in childhood, when, at the age of 4, she decided she wanted to be a pediatrician. She graduated in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Aveiro, but it was during her Master's in Clinical Research at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa that she discovered the area that most interested her: pediatric clinical trials. She is currently developing her internship project at our network focusing on “𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲” and is also our most recent Project Assistant. Ready for new learning and challenges, Carolina is inspired by Nélson Mandela's famous quote “𝐸𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑝𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑤𝑒𝑎𝑝𝑜𝑛 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑”.
