The prize of the Competition is 500,000 RUB! We invite young Russian lawyers (up to 35 years old) to submit their papers on international law issues until 31 March 2025. Participants of the Investment Law and Arbitration Lab, in addition to research work, learn how to give oral presentations at the sessions of the international organizations. The Lab's Research Advisor Anna Kozyakova gave a master class aimed at practicing these very skills. Anna represents the ICLRC as an observer at the sessions of Working Group III and regularly provides expert comments. She shared her experience on identification of key agenda issues and strategies for preparing persuasive interventions, recommendations of effective participation in the discussion. During the practical part of the master class the participants were looking for compromises and legal assessment of the selection and appointment of judges. A negotiation model was devoted to this issue and based on the example of the session of Working Group III, in which the Lab participants acted as delegates from a fictitious state and observer organizations.   Read more about the event – https://lnkd.in/eeTkimje. #Lab #investment #arbitration

Our colleague and Expert on Climate Change Policy Inga Kononovich defended her Ph.D. thesis. The Dissertation Council of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation highly appreciated her work on “The formation of the Green Economy in Emerging Market Countries”. We congratulate Inga and wish her great success in science and practice!

On 22 December, the final rounds of the “Dispute Resolution in the EAEU – 2024” moot court and the awarding of the participants took place in the Center's library – https://lnkd.in/gD2Gw2Y.   This competition is a unique educational platform that allows future legal professionals to study the dispute resolution process within the EAEU in the form of a moot court.   This year 23 teams from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Armenia took part in the competition. The winner was the team of the Higher School of Economics (Moscow). The second place was taken by the team of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the third place was shared by the teams of the Higher School of Economics (St. Petersburg) and the American University of Central Asia.   The ICLRC also awarded special prizes to the best speaker of the competition Elizaveta Kashubina and the team of the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University as the “Breakthrough of the Year”.   Our congratulations to winners and awardees!   Watch the record on our YouTube channel (in Russian) – https://lnkd.in/euMntbhv. #EAEU #competition

From 9 to 13 December, the 45th session of UNCITRAL Working Group VI (Negotiable Cargo Documents) was held in Vienna. This project aims to create a new type of title document called “negotiable cargo document”, which could perform a function similar to that of a sea bill of lading for the carriage of goods by any mode of transport in the context of multimodal or single-mode transportation. The Center's expert Igor Yastrzhembsky participated as an observer in the session and made a number of proposals to the draft, some of which were supported by the Working Group and will be reflected in the finalized document.
