On November 24th, the American Chamber of Commerce Saudi Arabia marked a strategic advancement in its journey to strengthen the U.S.-Saudi partnership by hosting its inaugural Sector Committee Chairs Townhall at Clap Riyadh. Under the leadership of Jamila El-Dajani, the new Director of Sector Committees, the event convened the Chairs of various sector committees to chart a new path forward for enhancing collaboration and driving impactful outcomes. This Townhall represented a milestone for the organization, underscoring its commitment to fostering growth and strengthening its strategic ambitions to meet the evolving needs of U.S.-Saudi relations. The meeting served as a strategic platform for Committee Leadership to cross-pollinate on cross-cutting industry themes, highlight potential opportunities to better enable industry and government engagement, and align committee priorities with the broader objectives of bilateral engagement. On November 22nd, the American Chamber of Commerce in Saudi Arabia, and the American Express Saudi Arabia, hosted an unforgettable Texas Scramble Tournament at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in KAEC in Jeddah. The event brought together seasoned and beginner golfers for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie. Participants enjoyed various golf activities, including a beginners’ clinic, and received gifts to commemorate the day. Following the tournament, guests networked and celebrated the day’s successes at an exclusive reception at the U.S. Consulate in Jeddah. On November 21st, the American Chamber of Commerce Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province Chapter hosted a Membership Networking Luncheon in collaboration with Total Safety at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Al Khobar. The event focused on the theme “Advancing Safety through Technology.” The program commenced with welcome remarks by William T., Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Dharan, followed by opening remarks from David Edginton ,Eastern Province Chapter President; Rick Pitman, Senior Vice President of Health, Safety, and Environment at Total Safety Arabia Co. Ltd. The keynote presentation was delivered by Roshan Viswanathan, Regional Director of Sales & Operations at Total Safety Arabia Co. Ltd. A panel discussion, moderated by Alex Gonzales Castellot, Customer Experience Director at Weatherford Energy Services Saudi Arabia Co. Ltd., featured esteemed speakers: Miguel Sanchez, CEO of Saudi Aramco Nabors Drilling (SANAD); Juan Manuel Tovar Griñan, Vice President & Managing Director at KBR-AMCDE of KBR, Kellogg Brown Root; and Steven Lanssens, President of Europe, Middle East & Africa Operations at Total Safety. The speakers provided invaluable perspectives on how technology enhances workplace safety and operational excellence. Their real-world examples of innovative safety solutions, along with the challenges faced during implementation, resonated deeply with our members. The emphasis on the crucial role of leadership in fostering a safety-first culture was particularly impactful. The event concluded with a networking luncheon, providing attendees with an excellent opportunity to connect with industry leaders and discuss pressing issues within the field. On Wednesday, November 13th, AmCham Saudi Arabia's Defense & Security Committee co-hosted an evening reception titled “Women in Defense: Leading the Future of Security and Innovation” at the residence of H.E. Alison Dilworth, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy. This event was part of the Women's #Majlis series and highlighted the growing impact of women in the defense and security sectors. The event served as a forward-looking platform, highlighting the growing leadership roles of women in defense, the importance of innovation in national security, and expanding opportunities in technology and cyber defense. It aimed to inspire participants to push boundaries while celebrating advancements since the last reception at the World Defense Show 2024. We were delighted to host members of AmCham’s Defense & Security Committee, distinguished guests from the U.S. Embassy and U.S. military servicewomen from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps stationed in the Kingdom. The gathering focused on dialogue around Women's Leadership Development, showcasing the emergence of women in senior defense roles and their contributions to technological advancements and innovation, while also emphasizing the need for enhanced U.S.-Saudi cooperation to further empower women in these industries. The evening commenced with welcoming remarks from Nomaan N., Board Member and Chairman of the Defense & Security Committee at AmCham Saudi Arabia. The first keynote speaker was Karey Jamison, HR Director at Leidos Defense Sector, who shared her experience and lessons learned as a woman in defense industry working for a U.S. large prime contractor. Followed by remarks from the host DCM Alison Dilworth, who welcomed guests to Eleanor House and the Women’s Majlis series and highlighted the importance of women empowerment in the workforce. Our second keynote speaker was Rachel Arin, Women, Peace and Security Director at the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), shared inspiring programs that support women globally and recognized that women must be critical actors in efforts to achieve sustainable international peace and security. Our final keynote speaker was Alaa Abdulaal, Chief of Digital Economy Foresight at the Digital Cooperation Organization who shared the role of Vision 2030 in women empowerment that transcends boundaries and impacts women globally. This event not only inspired attendees but also strengthened partnerships and built momentum around the crucial role women play in shaping the future of defense and security. We were thrilled to welcome a distinguished group of U.S. Generals and Flag Officers from the CAPSTONE program for an engagement with industry thought leaders in KSA, where valuable insights were exchanged with a focus on the transformative impact of Vision 2030 and how it is reshaping the commercial and military relationships in the region.
