  • Curious to find out what it was like when the first discoveries were made a 100 years ago in Fågelmyran? In two inspiring podcast episodes, Anders Lundin, Folkets Historia, deep dives into Boliden’s history and the discoveries that set the foundation for Boliden to be able to provide society with metals for generations to come. • Triple the Impact: Boliden Employees and Bcause Foundation Supporting Global Causes. Bcause is Boliden’s charity foundation that contributes to global organizations or research projects. The Bcause concept is an important part of our work with corporate responsibility. Among other things we have supported both the development of communities and contributed towards disaster relief. The money that the foundation manages builds from the voluntary monthly contributions from Boliden’s employees, the sum of which Boliden doubles so that the contribution is tripled. The board, consisting of both internal and external representatives, decides annually on which project or projects to support. This year we support the organizations Operation Smile, The Ocean Cleanup and Finn Church Aid.

  • Welcoming Neves-Corvo and Zinkgruvan to Boliden! Boliden has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Neves-Corvo mine in Portugal and the Zinkgruvan mine in Sweden, considerably strengthening Boliden´s mine production as well as internal zinc and copper concentrate supply. “The addition of two cash flow generative zinc and copper mines in Portugal and Sweden has a strong industrial logic as well as a strategic fit,” says Boliden President and CEO Mikael Staffas. • Our Commitment to Biodiversity. At Boliden, we are dedicated to achieving sustainable metal production by taking economic, social, and environmental responsibility for the effects of our operations. As members of the ICMM, we fully endorse the Nature Position Statement and its implementation. “Boliden fully understand that we both impact and depend on nature. Our mission is to supply minerals necessary for the green transition, while contributing to halting and reversing the loss of biodiversity “, says Åsa Jackson, Executive Vice President People and Sustainability. Among our key commitments, we follow the mitigation hierarchy to ensure a net increase in biodiversity for our direct operations, including prospecting, mining, smelting, and related infrastructure. Our approach includes: ▪️ avoiding land and water disturbance where possible ▪️ minimizing the impact on biodiversity when disturbance is unavoidable ▪️ restoring impacted land and water to recreate ecosystem functions that support biodiversity, while considering the interests of indigenous and local communities ▪️ compensating for any additional biodiversity values impacted since 2020, following the mitigation hierarchy. Together, we are working towards a more sustainable future. #Sustainability #Biodiversity #EnvironmentalResponsibility #Boliden #ICMM #SustainableMining

  • This week, Boliden’s Public Affairs Managers, Ann Allen and Sandra Lindström, visited Strasbourg to participate in Euromines’ policymakers’ dinner event, “A Vision for a Clean Industry Deal: How the Mining Industry Can Deliver on a Climate-Neutral Economy,” held at the European Parliament. In addition to the event, several in-person meetings with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and representatives from key committees where carried out. The discussions centered on critical issues for industrial development and operational safety, highlighting the mining industry’s role in advancing Europe’s green transition. With the new European Commission now in place and the EU agenda formed, we look forward to continuing these important dialogues and contributing to sustainable solutions for the future.
