A grand gathering at the Furetank office: the Nautiska Föreningen i Göteborg winter meeting with a culinary theme. They learned about how we manage provisioning and plan the menu onboard our vessels. Good and healthy food > strong and happy crew > great operations. Our chief cook Johan Nilsson treated the audience to both a French fish casserole and his extensive experience, joined by our personnel manager Jonas Gunnarsson and Stena Line food & beverage manager Rikard Persson. We hope and believe that the evening was to everyone's taste!

Four members of parliament from Moderaterna experienced an emergency rescue operation in the ship simulator during a Gothenburg tour with the Swedish Shipowners' Association, gaining insight into the current state of the Swedish merchant fleet. Furetank and the Donsö Maritime Training Centre AB were among the stops, where Björn Stignor provided the international perspective and Lars Höglund spoke about the Donsö cluster and the island's unique maritime tradition. We step into 2025 with a strong office team, since many skilled people joined us during the past year. 💪👌🙌 We hereby introduce our new colleagues, and asked three of them about their work, wishes and goals for the new year. Niklas Areschoug, Personnel Coordinator: ”I always had the impression that Furetank takes great care of its employees: now that is partly my job. My biggest wish for 2025 is to continue having enjoyable conversations with different people. I’m an extrovert, so the role of putting together the work-and-life-puzzle for our crew members fits me like a glove. At home I hope to finish constructions of the upper floor of my house: I have a bottle of homemade sparkling wine waiting to be popped once it’s done.” Sanna Olsson, Business Controller: “Working with Furetank has been very exciting so far, I learn new things every day. My goal in 2025 is to develop the controller role and implement new reporting structures. I enjoy the analytical work and hope to contribute value to the company. Outside work, I know exactly what to wish for: I play floorball in the second highest league and my team is currently in the lead. I’m hoping we win the playoffs and make it to the Swedish top league.” Elliot Nord, Technical Assistant: "I enjoy the hands-on role of assembling furniture, picking up goods, delivering it to the vessels and shipping items to different countries. The dynamic pace and varied tasks suit me. I take things as they come, so for 2025, I mostly hope that everything keeps moving forward. I want to organize the storage of work clothes, spare parts etc, to efficiently supply it to the ships, for everything to run smoothly at sea." #shipping #sjöfart

A floating Christmas gift, too large for wrapping: Today we handed over Fure Vinga into the ownership of Rederi AB Älvtank. This marks the third Vinga sister vessel in their fleet, we wish all of them fair winds and following seas! Under the name of Ramira, the vessel will remain under the commercial management of Furetank Chartering in the #gothiatankeralliance, so we will keep seeing each other going forward. What a bold move for Furetank, and I am truly amazed by the achievement of CE Barrios. Choosing the right company with people who share your vision and values, and who will fully support you, is crucial. Career visions may not always align with our dreams, but when opportunity knocks, we should seize it and give our best effort. Working on ships, especially in the engine department, requires a certain mindset. One must adapt to high temperatures, make quick decisions in the event of failures, and be prepared to get dirty with oil, grease, sewage, and sludge, to name a few challenges. This is a path less traveled for women seafarers. I’m delighted to see that some companies are making changes to focus on the retention and upskilling of their seafarers. All the best, Chief! 🫡
