Martin Larsson and John Zellmer just came back from a US southwestern trip where they visited Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and of course Texas. During the trip we had the chance to meet with many forward-thinking spine surgeons and demo our smart connected spinal fusion cage SmartFuse. The feedback and excitement from the physician community was reinvigorating for the Intelligent Implants team. The input is invaluable in a time where we are on the home stretch of finishing up the clinical implant and prepare for first in human clinical trials. Big thanks to all the people who took time out of their day to give valuable input and positive energy. A great piece in the October 2024 issue of Bonezone Magazine featuring Intelligent Implants, Ltd. and our SMART orthopedic implants. https://lnkd.in/gjBuS78n I appreciate ORTHOWORLD Inc. and Daniel Cook for giving us a platform to discuss, not just the clinical, but also the economic value-proposition of SMART implants. When you have been in this field long enough you understand that it takes more than just clever technology. Even good clinical data isn't enough. If there is not a strong value proposition, and the economics don't make sense, a new technology will never see widespread adoption and commercial success. I will also give a big shout-out to the great insights provided by Bill Hunter and Fred Cushner. Canary Medical Inc. Medical is a true leader in this field. "🎉 Big congrats to our friend and co-founder Dr. Rory Murphy on his pivotal role as an investigator in the groundbreaking Neuralink first-in-human trial! 🧠💼 His dedication to pushing the technology boundaries of neuroscience and spine is truly inspiring. Here's to the future of brain-machine interfaces and the incredible impact it'll have on healthcare and beyond! Inspirational teamwork by Barrow Neurological Institute and Neuralink. The successful procedure for Neuralink’s N1 Implant was performed earlier this year at Barrow Neurological Institute. Neuralink was founded by Elon Musk to create a generalized brain interface to restore autonomy to those with unmet medical needs in the near term and unlock human potential in the long term. I am proud to be an investigator and part of the study team attempting to help people after a spinal cord injury. Approximately 18,000 people have spinal cord injuries (SCI) each year in the United States; resulting in an estimated 302,000 people living with SCI from a traumatic event. When an injury occurs to the essential nervous system, it can disrupt this entire communication process. This can affect a person’s ability to perform everyday tasks. We remain hopeful that a BCI device may enable a digital bridge between the brain and spinal cord to potentially improve the quality of life for people with severe spinal cord injuries Wings for Life - Spinal Cord Research Foundation Myelopathy.org American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) AO Spine Cervical Spine Research Society Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation Arizona AANS/CNS Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves AO Spine IEEE Tesla SpaceX North American Spinal Cord Injury Consortium North American Spine Society Synchron Motif Neurotech Paradromics Inc.
