Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming SciLifeLab Director Jan Ellenberg to SciLifeLab Lund. 🌟 Last week, we gathered 53 members of our scientific community, representing SciLifeLab Research Infrastructure units, for our first SciLifeLab Lund retreat.  🎯 The aim? To spark new ideas, foster stronger inter-unit collaborations, and build a sense of community as we continue driving innovation in research. Highlights from our program included:  ✨ Presentations by local units, showcasing their work & technologies ✨ Insightful talks by invited speakers ✨ Team-building activities to strengthen connections across the community  ✨ A workshop and group group discussions on topics like career paths, outreach, organizational culture, and more. A special thank you to Elisabet Carlsohn (Site director SciLifeLab Gothenburg) and Annika Jenmalm Jensen (Infrastructure Director SciLifeLab) for their inspiring presentations on the future perspectives for Research Infrastructures. Also thanks to the local unit representatives  Dag Ahren (NBIS), Derek Logan (CryoEM), Sebastian Wasserstrom (LBIC), Anahita Bakochi (BioMS), Simon Ekström (Structural Proteomics), Tina Catela Ivkovic (Clinical Genomics Lund), Wolfgang Knecht (LP3) & Mats Ohlin (DST). Last but not least, a special mention to Jill Jaworski (Training Hub) for organizing the workshop on Wellness at the Workplace. PPS presented at the second Swedish National PI-meeting in Molecular Life Sciences   Malin Bäckström, director of PPS presented the capabilities of PPS (www.pps.gu.se/en) in protein production at the second Swedish National PI-meeting in Molecular Life Sciences in Gothenburg (https://pi-meeting.se/), November 21th and 22nd.  The meeting was jointly organized by the Swedish Society for Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology, SFBBM (www.sfbbm.se) and the Swedish National Committee for Molecular Biosciences (https://lnkd.in/dtPqD7iT). The purpose of this meeting was to enable and facilitate possibilities for additional synergies and collaborations between PIs in Sweden that conduct research within the field of Molecular Life Sciences. The meeting featured short presentations of research interests from >40 PIs from all Swedish major universities as well as many opportunities for discussions and get to know each other.

Cell-free protein synthesis workshop: 21 Jan 2025 - 23 Jan 2025 The Swedish NMR Centre will host a workshop on cell-free protein synthesis, with special focus on applications in NMR spectroscopy. he Swedish NMR Centre will once again give a workshop on cell-free protein synthesis. The workshop will entail both lectures and practical wet lab work. The idea is that participants nring their own plasmid construct for expression, with possible isotope labelling to judge the outcome with 2D NMR. The intended target group is graduate students and postdocs with preference for those with NMR-related projects. The workshop is a part of the SwedNMR (www.swednmr.se) and Protein Production Sweden (pps.gu.se/en) infrastructures outreach programs. The appointment signals that the research infrastructure have high strategic importance for the entire university. Specific selection criteria are that the research infrastructure contributes to excellent research, offers broad accessibility for users, demonstrates a clear usage policy, and has a well-developed organisation.
