Sweden takes equality seriously. And it is no accident that we have been ranked as the second-best country in the world to be located if you are a woman. 🥈 This ranking is from The Economist's annual glass ceiling index, which assesses where women have the best and worst chances of equal treatment at work in OECD countries. The 2024 index sees Iceland in the top spot, and Norway, Finland, and France rounding out the top five. The Nordics continue to walk the talk on helping women complete university education, secure employment, and rise to senior positions, with policies that provide quality parental-leave systems and flexible work schedules a critical factor in driving equality in the labour force. Sweden believes in the ingenuity and energy of entrepreneurs to build a better future 🤝🌏 That is why 63 participants from 22 countries were invited to take part of a new pilot initiative this fall - Impact Pioneers '24 , organised by Svenska institutet in partnership with Swedish Foreign Missions and a partner network. The participants have exchanged experiences around the theme of ‘Enabling Impact Entrepreneurship’ and connected with the Swedish ecosystem for impact entrepreneurship. Do countries need to sacrifice economic growth while they reduce their emissions? 📈 The answer: No! ❌ Many countries, including Sweden have been able to continue achieve economic prosperity while simultaneously reducing their overall carbon emissions. This is good news for economies of all sizes, because the race to zero shouldn't mean some countries are left behind as they implement green transition solutions.
