As we have celebrated 30 years of the GOLD air handling unit, we have also reflected upon its legacy of innovation. True to our history, we asked ourselves: could we do things differently again? This question led us to an idea of redefining what we already know today: creating a GOLD air handling unit in wood. With wood’s renaissance in modern architecture and its environmental benefits, it made total sense to give it a try. Today, we’re proud to present a functional concept GOLD air handling unit in wood. While not available to the market, we find true confidence in the fact that the casing is recyclable and that we once again are industry first. What can be done today to save energy? As we are heading towards months of colder winter climate, a slight feeling of unease may creep in as “energy costs” becomes an increasingly common topic of discussion. There is often great potential for energy savings in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) of buildings, but some savings are also associated with big investments. The good news? We have gathered our insights and best recommendations for minimising the energy consumption of your existing HVAC solution in our guide, find it here: https://lnkd.in/dCWRmut3 #feelgoodinside

We are taking our RE:3 concept to the next level, RE:3 is our umbrella concept for product offerings with a lower built-in carbon footprint, it is short for RE:duce, RE:use and RE:vitalise and it is a foundation for our journey towards a more sustainable business model. We are now levelling up RE:use and our ambition is clear: we aim to streamline the reuse of technical installations on an industrial scale - in our case, our indoor climate products. The goal is to utilise the products’ full operational lifespan by offering them to the market as reused, with similar conditions as newly manufactured units, but with a significantly reduced climate footprint. After a fire in 2018, the Maison de Quartier community center in Portet-sur-Garonne, France, was reimagined with both old and new elements. The goal was not only to restore, but to build an environment where people could connect, create and feel good inside. Given the wide range of activities, from dance to meetings, ensuring a comfortable and adaptable indoor climate was key. We provided four GOLD air handling units and our WISE system for demand controlled ventilation. The AHU including features like ReCO2 recycling for energy efficiency and WISE comprising waterborne room units for quiet, effective heating and cooling. All in all, a solution designed to ensure that the indoor climate always adjusts to the activity and occupancy inside, and which makes careful consideration to the season outside. This project pursued strong sustainability goals, and we created a solution able to meet them. Learn more in our reference case https://lnkd.in/dFc-SQ2r #feelgoodinside

Managing temperature distribution in air-to-air heat exchangers can be quite challenging, especially when the temperature difference between the indoor and the outdoor air is significant. In cold weather, warm extract air cools down to the point where moisture condenses and freezes on the heat exchanger surfaces. The frost or ice that may form restricts the air flow and causes an increase in pressure drop, driving up energy consumption. To tackle this issue, William Lawrance, Senior Product Manager Special Projects, shares his expertise about frosting in rotary heat exchangers, defrosting, hygroscopic coatings and sorption rotors, using Mollier diagrams for explaining. His insights offer a clear solution to more efficient operation and energy savings in cold temperatures. Find his latest blog post here https://lnkd.in/dkZY_MFR #feelgoodinside

This week, our VP Marketing and New Business, Sofia Rudbeck ♦️, is honoured to attend the Green Transition Summit 2024 - an initiative from the Embassy of Sweden and Sweden-US Green Transition Initiative, in collaboration with World Resources Institute. The event, hosted at the House of Sweden in Washington DC, brings together leaders from across industries and geographies to discuss the future of business, policy development and sustainable innovation. Sofia will participate the panel discussion titled “Building the Future: Enablers for Overcoming Decarbonization Obstacles”, where she will share our insights on the challenges and opportunities in the building industry and real estate sector. She joins the panel discussion alongside experts such as Michael Izzo from Hines and Theresa Backhus from the Building Innovation Hub. While we are proud to be on our way in terms of sustainability, we also recognise that the journey has only yet begun, there is much more to do. We find collaboration to be absolute key, and this summit is therefore an important step forward in shaping a future where innovation drives environmental responsibility.
