Continuing with our Cyber Security Month theme, this week we will be covering the ways that you can protect your digital life by keeping your physical hardware secured. 2️⃣ Device Locking Once you have gone to the trouble of setting up security on your device such as Password or PIN code it needs to be used to be effective. 1) Ensure that remember to lock your device when you leave it, this is as simple as pressing Windows Key + L, for Macs its Ctrl+Command+Q for your phones it is just hitting the power button. 2) If you forget to lock your machine (it happens to us all) your device should be set to auto-lock within a short time period of 5-10min maximum to ensure safety. Once installed, it can be used to steal or encrypt your data for ransom or just because they can. It also comes in text format known as SMShing.
