🌟Celebrating a Decade of Innovation and Collaboration! 🌟 As we approach the conclusion of the CAMART² project, it's incredible to reflect on the transformative journey we've embarked on over the past decade. This initiative, a dynamic partnership between the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL), Kungliga Tekniska högskolan (KTH, Royal Institute of Technology), and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, has significantly advanced materials research and technology transfer in Latvia at the European level. From fostering scientific excellence to promoting innovation and collaboration, CAMART² has been a beacon of progress. With the support of the Horizon 2020 framework program, we've achieved remarkable milestones that have not only impacted our organizations but also the broader scientific community. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Your dedication and hard work have been instrumental in our success. As we look forward to the closing event on March 28, 2025, at ISSP UL, we celebrate the achievements and the bright future ahead for materials research. Let's continue to innovate and collaborate for a better tomorrow! 🚀🔬 Read the full article👇 https://lnkd.in/dfrmYEkh #Innovation #Collaboration #MaterialsResearch #CAMART2 #Horizon2020 #ScientificExcellence #ISSPUL #RISE

For over two decades, we’ve been pioneering the development of our blue electrochromic displays. Through the Digital Cellulose Center, we’re now making strides towards sustainability by transitioning from plastic to recycled paper for our displays. In November, blue takes on a special significance. To raise awareness for prostate cancer research, we’ve created a unique electrochromic display in the shape of a moustache. Join us in spreading the word and supporting this important cause. 💙

Sweden's electricity supply is crucial for the efficient functioning of society today, especially with the ongoing transition towards a more electrified economy. Well-functioning transformers are essential for Sweden's electricity grid to function. RISE Research Institutes of Sweden together with Francisco Penayo at Hitachi Energy in Sweden have developed so-called partially reduced graphene oxide (prGO) based sensors that contain the 2D material "graphene" and increase the reliability of transformers. Graphene oxide or GO, due to its high sensitivity, has been used to measure moisture and humidity, hence the name, prGO-based sensors. In the project PrGO for power grid components researchers Mohammad Yusuf M. and Mats Sandberg from RISE aims to develop a basis for product qualification of these sensors. Novel methods of reducing and characterizing degree of reduction and moisture sensitivity of graphene based moisture sensors are being explored. In the project the quality and type of the graphene oxide is crucial. This is realized via proprietary technology of GO fractionation provided by Erik Khranovskyy and Mykhailo Zhybak at GRAFREN AB. Graphene that works. and is being investigated as critical factor for reproducible manufacturing of sensors, ultimately the final products. “Major issue with transformers is explosions due to damage in insulation materials, mostly used is cellulose pressboards. This damage is mostly caused by moisture seeping into transformer during lifetime and during manufacturing process. It degrades cellulose and consequently failure in insulation properties of pressboards in transformers. If we have a sensor that can measure very low levels of moisture during manufacturing/assembly and also in future long-term monitoring/maintenance; then we can predict life time or possible failure of transformers before they actually fail. In this way proactive measures can be taken by grids, end users to already start for replacement. This in overall will help increasing reliability of grid”, says Yusuf Mulla.
