Construction companies take note! The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has been stepping up enforcement against companies for inflating their foreign worker quota by making false CPF contributions to locals who did not perform any work for the companies. ❌ 🔎 Recent Actions Taken: ✔️ 4 construction companies investigated in 2024, with $225,000 in financial penalties issued ✔️ 8 construction companies raided in Jan 2025, leading to 11 arrests The companies that were found guilty were also barred from hiring migrant workers. 📢 Stay compliant & focus on productivity Companies caught violating the law may be barred from hiring migrant workers and their registration on BCA's Contractors Registration System (CRS) may also be affected. Instead of circumventing regulations, companies should embrace automation, robotics, and workforce upskilling to enhance productivity and reduce manpower demand. ✅ 🔗 For more information visit, https://lnkd.in/ga6XhQsB #MOM #BCA #BuiltEnvironment #Advisory

Love knows no bounds, and neither should our buildings. Singapore is taking significant strides towards an inclusive built environment. Recently, Minister Indranee Rajah visited Elementum at one-north, a standout example with lactation rooms on every floor. This user-centric approach not only benefits nursing mothers, it signals a broader commitment to inclusivity that can transform our urban landscape. We are not stopping there. The ongoing revision of our Code on Accessibility in the Built Environment ('Code'), informed by extensive stakeholder consultations, aims to better meet diverse user needs. Proposed changes include enhancing lactation room requirements, as well as features to make buildings accessible and inclusive to other users, such as persons with disabilities. The updated Code will be released later this year. While the Code sets minimum standards for accessibility, we challenge the industry to push beyond compliance and to lead in creating spaces beyond the basics. For existing building owners wishing to implement accessibility and universal design features, including lactation facilities, support is available through the Accessibility Fund: https://go.gov.sg/bcaud-af Together, let's build a Singapore that's truly designed for all. #BuildSG #Accessibility #AccessibilityCode #UniversalDesign

🌍🔧 Engineering the Future: Circular Economy & Resilience in celebration of World Engineering Day 2025! What does it take to build a sustainable, resilient future? At the Charles Rudd Distinguished Global Lectures, over 1,000 engineering professionals worldwide came together to explore the path forward, in person and virtually. Co-organised by the The Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES) and Singapore Polytechnic, this year's lecture, "Towards a Sustainable World: Engineering the Way Forward", spotlighted two critical themes: the Circular Economy and a Resilient Future. 🌱 By embedding circular economy principles such as minimising waste, maximising resource efficiency, and designing for adaptability, the built environment sector can reduce its ecological footprint and create future-ready structures. This is not just about sustainability; it's about shaping a world that thrives for generations. 💡 Kelvin Wong, CEO of BCA, delivered a keynote on the indispensable role of engineers in driving sustainability across the built environment. From design and construction to operation and demolition, engineers influence every phase of the development journey. To sustain this momentum, we must attract more young talent and accelerate innovation for a greener future. 🚀 A significant milestone at the event was the official launch of the Built Environment Transformation Learning Journey (BETLJ)! This initiative by Singapore Polytechnic will empower firms to strategically plan their business and workforce transformation, helping them stay ahead in an evolving industry. Interested firms can register their interest with Singapore Polytechnic at https://lnkd.in/gR2daswt. Let's engineer the change we want to see. #IES #SP #BuiltEnvironment #BEProfessionals
