Flying back from Singapore to the UK to wrap up the year and doing some reflecting 🤔✈️🎅 2024 has been another crazy year of startup founder life with some highlights being: - Tripling civils.ai revenue and turning Civils.ai into a company which supports 7 full time staff. - Despite the startup fundraising winter closing the majority for our seed fundraising round. - Having people around the world run our software 980,000 times (I wish it was 1M before the end of the year) Living in Singapore for the past 5 years I feel really lucky to have called this place my home. Working on projects across Asia it’s mind blowing to see how fast everything is developing and how dynamic and fast things are, I have met some really inspiring people in this time. There have been a few hard lessons learnt too: - Seeing small startups innovate and bring fresh ideas to a market and then big companies try to replicate their interface and features line by line is quite painful to watch. All you can do is keep innovating. - As a first time founder, taking civils.ai from 0 to 1 and making it a capital efficient and growing software company has been a real learning journey. Going into 2025 I’m more confident than ever we are onto something great with no-code AI workflow automation. Loving this new cleaner Civils.ai interface where my Libraries are split from my projects! It makes navigating to my projects easier, especially on site. Today I went for a site walk and someone brought up whether a water ponding test is required. Needless to say, I took out my phone and turned to Civils.ai for an immediate answer on the spot while the others were discussing about it. We could then further discuss based on what was in the spec! #GenAIForProductivity

At Civils.ai we just launched fresh updates to our AI for searching & checking construction tender/contact documents. 🏗️ ➡️ Documents are now much more organised into key categories, in this demo I am showing how I can search over tender specs and as-built drawings to pull out requirements. ➡️ We also introduced ‘Libraries’ (which sit outside of projects), these can include grouped building codes and compliance docs to create 'Compliance AI bots'. These libraries can be quickly accessed and queried across different projects. 📕📘 ➡️ This is all laying the ground work for our 𝐍𝐨-𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐀𝐈 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 which is planned to launch in early 2025. 🛠️ 🧠 ➡️ The workflow builder will include pre-built templates for extracting and running checks / reviews on construction documents. (e.g. Extracting tender data, creating site specific risk assessments, extracting site investigation & lab testing data, finding contractual risks). Thought to share how I tried using Civils.ai as a learning companion in a recent ABC Waters Professional Course. It's interesting how GenAI can help to improve the learning process!

What I like about GenAI with Civils.ai is the multiplier effect it has for my team. Beyond my own productivity, it improves my project team's productivity by being able to move design discussions which are held up by a need to check the Code. It also empowers younger engineers/ architects and frees up time from senior engineers/ architects in answering code-based queries to work on problems which require deeper analysis and thought!

Another way that Civils.ai's GenAI tool helps me is in searching of drawings. Not having to sieve through LTA's SDRE or project drawings manually cuts down the time spent on that which can be better used on something else!

Checking all these details are safe and compliant with building codes is a nightmare (and in some cases not even humanly possible in the time given). 😓 Over the past 2.5 years we've developed Civils.ai to analyse & understand much of the knowledge used in construction, identifying and reading from: - Design reports, method statements & proposals. - CAD drawings. - Site investigations. - Building codes, contracts & specifications. Today you can use Civils.ai to search and answer questions on entire submissions or project proposals instantly making it easy to understand project requirements and constraints. Recently we've been developing this AI brain 🧠 to read between all this interlinked knowledge and flag up risks, improvements and find non-compliances with standards. For Consultants this means you can automatically raise the bar on your teams proposals and help facilitate better checking of your submissions, tracing comments back to specs and standards.
