  • Do you know #Oman? The third largest country on the Arabian Peninsula and a key economic player in the Middle East, Oman has a diverse and active economy, with the oil and gas sector contributing over 60% while supported by large reserves and ongoing investments, making Oman a competitive hub for energy resources. The tourism sector is also growing, with Oman’s 3,000 km of coastlines, mountain ranges, and historic sites attracting visitors from around the world, also significantly contributing to its GDP. Muscat, the capital city, is a key economic engine within Oman. Positioned along the Gulf of Oman, its strategic location places it at the nexus of maritime trade routes between Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The coastal city serves as a hub for high-value manufacturing industries, particularly in petrochemicals, construction materials, food processing, logistics and trade, and the country’s financial centre, attracting substantial investments. New long-term initiatives such as Oman Vision 2040 are designed to enhance the country's competitiveness and diversify its economy away from oil while boosting the local economy through increased innovation, collaboration, and industrial expansion. For businesses in Singapore, Oman offers substantial opportunities for international expansion, supported by the Gulf Cooperation Council-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (GSFTA). This agreement eliminates 99% of tariffs on Singapore’s exports to GCC markets, which include Oman. The GSFTA also safeguards market access and ensures a more predictable operating environment for service suppliers. Key industries for business expansion in Oman include: Oil and Gas: Extensive reserves and ongoing investments present numerous opportunities for Singaporean companies specialising in energy solutions and technologies. Tourism: With its cultural heritage and natural beauty, Oman’s tourism sector is ripe for investment in hospitality, travel services, and related infrastructure. Logistics and Transport: Oman’s location and investments in infrastructure make it a prime hub for logistics and transport services. Renewable Energy: Oman’s focus on diversifying its energy sources, particularly solar energy, offers significant opportunities for Singaporean companies in the renewable energy sector. Information and Communications Technology (ICT): The Digital Oman Strategy (eOman) aims to expand digital literacy and develop a vibrant ICT ecosystem, providing fertile ground for Singaporean tech companies. Oman’s broad economic strengths and Muscat’s strategic position underscore the country’s role as a business hub in the Middle East, offering a gateway for companies seeking access to the region’s potential. #GoGlobalwithSBF #WorldWideWed #MiddleEast #Oman #Muscat #BusinessOpportunities

  • 𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝘼𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙, 𝙊𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙, 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮. Oman may not be a market that many Singaporean businesses are familiar with. However, its ease of doing business, its efforts to diversify its economy beyond traditional oil and gas, and its strategic location with access to deep-water ports make it a promising destination for businesses looking to expand their global footprint. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 "𝗟𝗮 𝗞𝗼𝗽𝗶" 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 #LaKopi But how does a business begin exploring Oman’s potential without prior introduction or information? To address this, the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) organised a small and informal session designed to help companies discover opportunities in the Middle East. Called "La Kopi", a term referring to leisurely enjoying coffee in Singaporean culture, this session brought together companies from diverse industries to discuss their questions and explore opportunities in a relaxed and casual setting.  With representatives from Oman joining virtually, attendees had the chance to engage directly with potential partners . This format allowed businesses to better understand the market and establish connections immediately, without the need to travel. 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗱 The session featured discussions on key developments in Oman, including the Manah Solar Initiative and opportunities in urban planning, energy, technology, and the oil and gas sectors. These conversations helped participants explore areas where Singaporean businesses might align with Oman’s growing economy. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘁 After the session, participants were treated to a small and curated selection of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean snacks, serving as a savoury introduction to the region's cuisine and culture. This informal setting also provided an opportunity for further networking with the SBF team and fellow attendees 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱: 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 (𝗢𝗠𝗪) 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝗺𝗮𝗻 For those considering a deeper exploration of Oman, the upcoming Overseas Market Workshop (OMW) in January 2025 offers a hands-on opportunity to engage further. This session provided businesses with the insights they need to assess if Oman aligns with their business goals. 📩 Interested in joining the OMW or finding out more about Oman?
