Totally enjoyed last week's deep dive at Customer Contact Week Asia's 5-hour workshop. We're soaring past incremental upgrades, heading straight to the big and profound final upgrade 😉: AI-driven and.... celebrity-voiced avatars engaging your customers?! Integrate AI with the charm of familiar voices and what do you get? A brand relationship that feels more personal, more engaging, and yes, MORE HUMAN. Many companies are now pushing beyond mundane chatbot interactions and replacing outsourced customer support teams with lively, real-time video calls managed by AI. This creates customer interactions that are much more memorable and resonate deeply with consumer emotions and preferences. Oddly enough, we kicked off the workshop by demonstrating the power of AI to write and respond to customer complaint letters very effectively. We used Delta Airlines as an example, simply because they had rescheduled a flight at the last minute earlier. Little did we know that just three hours later, we would witness one of the greatest airport IT outages globally. This tech mishap drove the discussion in the room, raising questions about whether this is one of the consequences of AI. Interestingly, it wasn’t even a sophisticated outage or a hacking incident. It was just a regular software update that was poorly organized. We’re fully aware that embedding AI into our service strategies brings about a slew of ethical considerations, but we also can’t deny the vast and vivid opportunities it holds.
