I recently had a call with an ex-colleague who has just decided to start his own recruitment business, as he wanted to hear what had worked for me and what I would do differently. This was a great chance for me to reflect on the highs (and lows) of running Melior and made me realise that there are areas where I'm still not following my own advice! I don't like to see things as regrets / mistakes, as I believe that everything is a chance for learning / growth - but there are definitely things that I would do differently if I had my current knowledge. Celebrating a significant milestone today as we mark 3 incredible years since the talented Katie Jonzen joined me at Melior. Reflecting on our journey, it's been an amazing ride! Katie's adventure around Australia took an unexpected turn when unforeseen challenges compelled her to swiftly return to her family home in Singapore. When we reconnected, Katie was navigating health struggles and working part-time as a tutor. At that point, I hadn't planned to expand the team at Melior so soon, but the demands of our growing workload led me to seek assistance. I approached Katie to join me in handling admin tasks and candidate sourcing. To my surprise, Katie was already a recruitment expert, hitting the ground running with unparalleled enthusiasm for the field. Her passion for helping people shines through, making her an invaluable asset to our team. In the past 3 years, we've formed an incredible partnership, collaborating with outstanding clients and achieving exciting placements. The final months of 2024 were particularly challenging for me as I relocated back to the UK, but Katie stepped up admirably, managing every aspect with finesse, reinforcing my confidence in our business's capable hands. Katie, your dedication is beyond measure, and I am profoundly grateful for your contributions. I can't imagine Melior without you! Happy New Year everyone! The last few months have definitely been an adventure but I now have some exciting news to share - I've made the move back to the UK and will be splitting my time between here and Dubai (with some trips to Singapore).
