As the dust settles on a wonderful night of celebration, food, and laughter hosted by Interior Design Confederation Singapore (IDCS) at the Design Excellence Awards 2024, I'm finally sober enough to reflect on a few things! It was a great night of fun, laughter, encouragement, and sharing on table "1" as my wife and I made friends from within the industry. Shout out to Alex and Jay; Ar. Charmaine Wong and Jacob; Tristan Wu, Kate and Wayne; and Dennis all the way from Hong Kong. Thank you for the sharing and encouragement too Clement Koh. Let's all work hard for the upcoming year and hope that our efforts bear fruit again at an upcoming ceremony like this. Ceremonies are but just a milestone to the effort and finesse that had been put out for a long period of time prior to it. With that, I thank Sarah Koh and her efforts working with me to create both the "Lucky House" and "Apartamento Miro". A pleasure to have Tatler Asia present our work at Apartamento Miro. For those of you who have followed my previous posts, I'm sure you've already seen my immense pride and joy to present this labour of hard hard work. Something that wasn't possible without the help of my ex-colleague and friend, Sarah Koh. I have Jingmei Luo to thank for this wonderfully written piece. It is, in itself, also a labour of hard work as we walked the home together one morning, personally experiencing the space, before putting this piece together. “SWORDFISH PLAZA” has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Bukit Merah Town Centre Placemaking Challenge organised by Singapore Institute of Architects and Housing & Development Board The scheme aims to bring residents and workers of all age groups and demographics to enjoy a space which encourages chance encounters, play, and rest. In the Mood for Love We had a great time exploring this home greatly inspired by autumnal colours and Wong Kar Wai's movie scenes. It was a process that started with picking out scenes from movies that worked for us; to creating AI generated mood images that encapsulated these vibes; to designing, crafting and selecting the correct materials that would make the space work the way we envisioned. We took some time off last Friday to hold the inaugural PI Cup. It was a semi-serious badminton tournament and I'm proud to report that we're pretty good at badminton. Chinese food for lunch at my favourite Northeast Chinese restaurant really added to the joy! Thank you to our lovely prize sponsors that added a little competitive edge to our tournament.
