🏁Throwback to the Race Against Skin Injuries Event! 🏥 What an incredible time we had at SKH Stop Pressure Injury Day 2024 last month, as we marked the 3rd time celebrating Worldwide Pressure Injury Prevention Day! 🎉 This year’s race-themed event, organised by the SKH Wound Team and SKH Nursing Quality Management Team, brought together 540 participants from across the SKH family—including nurses, allied health professionals, and doctors. The key highlight? A life-sized race car crafted entirely from recycled materials, showcasing our commitment to sustainability and creativity. ♻️ But it wasn’t just about fun! Esteemed experts like Prof Keryln Carville from Silver Chain Group and Curtin University, Western Australia, and Mr Songun Gu, Wound Ostomy Charge Nurse from Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, shared invaluable knowledge. Engaging activities and interactive booths made learning enjoyable and impactful. Key takeaway: Pressure injury prevention starts before patients enter the hospital and continues after they’ve gone home. Mobility is fundamental to our quality of life, yet many face challenges that limit their movement and independence. At SKH, we're committed to helping individuals overcome these obstacles. Today, we're spotlighting a key figure in our efforts to enhance mobility care.   Dr Dominic Chen leads the SKH Mobility Clinic, specialising in Rehabilitation Medicine. The clinic focuses on helping individuals with mobility challenges, including those recovering from strokes or undergoing amputee rehabilitation.   Dr Chen shares his approach: "In Rehabilitation Medicine, we evaluate mobility issues from various perspectives. Our team, including physiotherapists, works to understand each patient's condition. We often encounter cases related to age-associated muscle loss, joint problems affecting movement, and nerve issues in the legs due to diabetes."   Dr Chen recalls a notable case: "We treated a young patient who lost fingers and toes due to severe infection. This patient faced significant mobility challenges and had to use artificial limbs. Our team worked with the patient to relearn how to walk using these prosthetics.
