About us

Superscrypt is an early-stage blockchain investment company seeded by Temasek, that invests in and supports innovative founders and projects across the entire ecosystem. We combine a passionate web3-native team who are plugged deeply into the ecosystem with the strategic reach of a wider global network. We invest in protocols and teams that help blockchains more useable - i.e. making it faster, more cost-effective and more interoperable with other systems and also back teams building applications and emerging use cases that rely on web3 technology. To date we've built a portfolio of over 20 portfolio companies, leading 6 of them. Superscrypt does not just support with capital, but also works closely with its founders to help them scale, providing business acceleration (product, marketing, GTM strategy, tokenomics) and technical support (tech stack support, developer relations).

TOKEN2049 is just round the corner with lots of chats and planning already in place. Superscrypt too is looking to whip up some interesting events throughout the week between 17 -20 September. We definitely look forward to meeting and catching up with friends within the web3 community both locally and abroad. To help ensure smooth operations, we have a few intern slots up for grabs (Singapore only - ideally undergraduates with passion for #blockchain / #web3). • We're excited to lead Agio Ratings latest funding round with participation from Portage and MS&AD Ventures. Onboarding users & liquidity into Web3 is not just about killer apps - its also about better tools to help participants more accurately price risk and confidently deploy capital - leading to more robust and efficient capital markets. 1. Why we invested - Institutional development in crypto capital markets - A strong team of experienced domain professionals - Onboarding users & liquidity into web3 isn't just about killer apps - it's also about helping market participants better understand & price risk 2. How instituions underwrite risk As institutions enter, one key feature missing from crypto capital markets is a system that helps measure risk more accurately - especially with smart contract bugs, hacks, and the hidden & multi-layered exposure of counterparties In the last cycle, the lack of proper risk management tools / processes eventually led to the origination of loans without proper diligence to substandard counterparties. What followed next was a cascading & devastating set of failures across the ecosystem. In traditional finance, companies like Moody's & S&P Global exist solely to help prevent situations like that and have already proven to be a valuable indicator of creditworthiness in traditional capital markets. These systems help PRICE risk more accurately, thereby creating a more capital-efficient system and enabling capital inflows to operate more confidently. While not always foolproof, they are a key enabler of financial systems - and will be vital for development of crypto markets 3. Agio's Ratings System The team have developed a unique approach that analyzes 1,000+ variables assembled from onchain and offchain sources. Their models provide institutional-grade insight into predicting defaults to help institutions make better decisions. 4. The Team Led by Ana De Sousa (the former Crypto Risk & Policy Lead at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco & Head of Ops FalconX), Agio's team has decades of experience as investors, former credit rating company founders & PHDs across multiple fields

  • We’ve released an article diving into Digital Identity. What is it? Where did it come from? After 30 years of internet what are the limitations of current forms of digital identity and where do we go next? Click through to find out!

Our digital identity is often something taken for granted; overlooked and ceded to Web2 companies to manage in exchange for convenience & product. Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) has the potential to disrupt and unlock new use cases & value models for us - but there are many primitives that have yet to be built out or are still only in the early days. It also has the potential to solve many UX problems currently facing web3 applications and wallets. In this article written by Andy Chen & Hitesh Joshi we cover: 1) The evolution of human identity from physical to digital 2) The shortcomings of existing digital identity systems 3) Self-Sovereign Identity: the next evolution of digital identity; and 4) Why blockchain is the PERFECT foundation for self-sovereign identity https://t.co/veBYWCXVCE While SSIs put the control of our data and information back in our hand it's not readily apparent what we can do with them currently. There are many areas that need to be built out to make SSIs adoption more compelling like: - Data marketplaces that facilitate SSI holders to monetize their data - Platforms that thread together a user's SSI with data on other platforms (e.g. their gaming activity on Steam, social network on Facebook, personal data on government platforms); and - Platforms that allow brands to understand and interact with customers at a deeper level... to name a few A big thanks to our industry contributors Junius Ho from Affinidi, Stepan Gershuni from Cyberfund, LJ Huang from EthSign, William Luedtke from Intuition and David Phelps from jokerace.
