Growth isn’t just about numbers—it’s about the people and the stories that define them. For us at Sustainable Living Lab (SL2), 2024 has been about more than just business—it was about hard work, trust, and shared goals that have helped us grow in ways we never imagined. We worked ourselves through uncharted grounds to emerge stronger, invigorated, and more together than ever. And we can’t wait for what the new year and beyond will bring us. As we wish you a very happy 2025, we will continue to share the stories of the people behind our work—our #hopes, #challenges, and the #partnerships that drive us to continue growing. #sustainability #2025 Veerappan Swaminathan Aaqib Alvi [Building Future Ready Nations]Arihant Chindalia Janio Nugraha WanYing Weng Russell Fock Avinash Singh Suprina Sandhu Preetha Lenin Cecep Januardi Ditty V. True Rice, our tool designed to support the entire agricultural spectrum, made its mark at the Uttar Pradesh Agro Pradarshini in Lucknow, highlighting how simple tech can drive real change. From farmers optimising their yields to procurement teams improving traceability to exporters ensuring compliance, True Rice simplifies complex processes into accessible solutions. 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬: 𝟗𝟗% accuracy in rice quality analysis. 𝟑𝟎-𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 scans for broken, whole, and chalky grains. Aroma detection will be added soon to identify premium varieties, ensure purity, and prevent adulteration. Beyond rice, we're expanding to crops like maize, wheat, coffee, and spices. Organised by ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India), the Uttar Pradesh Agro Pradarshini is instrumental in closing the gap between technology and accessibility. The experience gained over three days enhances our commitment to sustainability, technology, and community and True Rice reflects this approach—a simple, scalable solution built with communities at its core. For us as an SME, the event was more than a showcase. We learnt from peers, farmers, and farmer-producer organisations (FPOs), exchanging ideas with stakeholders across the entire ecosystem, keeping us agile. We explored new ways to simplify technology, further deepening our commitment to making tools easy to use, accessible to everyone, and adaptable to different needs. How can we collaborate to make technology more accessible and impactful for the communities that need it most? Let's exchange ideas. Our Singapore teammates enjoying an X'mas Ornament making workshop. Or is something more going on? With its history and culture rooted in the Maker Movement, Sustainable Living Lab (SL2) is not just a typical sustainability consultancy. For one, we have a fully functioning makerspace (complete with laser cutters, electronics stations, 3D Printers, CNC machines, AI PCs) taking up 60% of our office footprint! We also seek inspiration from the maker ethos of having a growth mindset (there is nothing we cannot learn from), a sense of craftsmanship (doing your best even when no one is looking) and practicing open sharing (give so that you may receive). We have also been working directly with communities since our inception, not as a once-in-a-year CSR initiative, but as part of our day-to-day work. We feel that this combination of "Sustainability + Technology + Community" is absolutely necessary for us to do our work as a sustainability consultancy and make real, lasting and meaningful impact on people and our planet. Through the experience of making ornaments, we exposed newer members of our team to the tools and techniques to make their imagination come to reality. Because to build a better world, we must first learn how to make. Come to our stall at the Uttar Pradesh Agro Pradarshini, Lucknow.
🌾 Day 1 Highlights from Uttar Pradesh Agro Pradarshini, Lucknow 🌾 The first day of the Uttar Pradesh Agro Pradarshini was a vibrant confluence of innovation, tradition, and collaboration. Among the bustling stalls and lively discussions, one theme stood out—the active participation of farmers and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). For many farmers, this exhibition is more than just a platform to explore technologies; it’s a window into the future of agriculture. Conversations echoed stories of transformation, as farmers interacted with industry experts, discovering solutions to improve post-harvest practices, enhance value addition, and reduce losses. One farmer remarked, “It feels empowering to see innovations designed for us—tools and techniques that address the challenges we face every day.” The presence of FPOs added a dynamic layer to the event. These collectives showcased how collaboration within the farming community can amplify impact and foster sustainable growth. Their engagement in discussions highlighted the potential of bridging grassroots efforts with industrial expertise. As the exhibition continues, it’s clear that events like these are instrumental in building a future where the agriculture, food processing sector and farming community grow hand in hand. Here’s to more meaningful interactions and transformative insights in the days to come! 🌱🚜 ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) Uttar Pradesh AGRO Pradarshini 2024 Mohd Nahid Alam Yashpal Verkiya Deepanshu Shokeen simmi parashar Gaurav Chaudhary Avantika Yadav Aman Ayushman Crop Care Federation of India Gramik™ KisaanSay BharatRohan®- Revitalizing agriculture Fyllo DeHaat Marut Drone My Irigacio World Pvt. As an SME, we continue to grow at the forefront of sustainability, innovation, and community-driven solutions. Our work began with a commitment to forward-thinking solutions, driven by the belief that sustainable change comes from being proactive. With #2025 in mind, our commitment to grow in: AI Skilling, Climate Adaptation, Active Ageing & Education, continues with expansions, growth, new spaces, and opportunities. We wish our teammates Aaqib Alvi [Building Future Ready Nations] & Pin Qi Lee, and family great luck as they pave the way for us toward a bigger & brighter #2025.
Spreading our Wings! Within a space of 8 hours, two key leaders from edm8ker and Sustainable Living Lab (SL2) have embarked on a mission to expand the reach of the SL2 Group beyond Singapore. Pin Qi is leading the charge in establishing edm8ker Japan, with a primary focus on enhancing our K-12 education programs in the region. The goal is to introduce advanced technology and maker education to both educators and students. Aaqib is spearheading our expansion into the US market, leveraging the increasing interest in AI Skilling, Climate Adaptation, and Active Ageing from state governments. Reflecting on the past 14 years, I would never have imagined that my small consultancy would evolve to an impactful organization with an increasingly global footprint. I am truly grateful for the immense contributions of all my business partners, team members (past and present) and their families for getting us to this stage!
