And... ... ... it's a wrap. Yes. A wrap for our last event of the year "WLSG: 2024 Wrapped!" First, we started off with the year 2024 in retrospect for each of us - the new things that we did and experiences that we gained. Then, we were "figuring out what's next" in 2025. And we rounded up with a trivia game that tested our participants with lots of translation and language knowledge, and kudos to Pei-yao Chang for being the clear, undisputed winner even after technical issues stopped her from logging in her answers to the final three questions! 👏 👏 👏 You rock, Pei! All of us in the Singapore Chapter are very grateful to everyone who has attended a Women in Localization Singapore Chapter event in the past year. Being a W.L. member comes with many benefits, not least the many networking, learning, sharing, resources and mentorship opportunities. Happy Deepavali from all of us in Women in Localization Singapore Chapter! Hindus from around the world have been celebrating Deepavali, also known as Diwali or "Festival of the Lights" around the world for the past few days. In India, Diwali spans five days, with each day marked by specific traditions and celebrations, especially Lakshmi Puja. The festival is also celebrated by Indian communities around the world, including non-Hindus. In Singapore, we have one main day of celebration, but prayers, gatherings and preparation for the festival have already started before this date.  Whether you are right in the midst of festivities or having a quiet rest time during this holiday season, may the light of Diwali shine upon and within each and every one of you! #WLSG #diwali #deepavali #sgfestivals

WLSG Team Member Intro #4 In the spotlight today is the Membership Manager for the Singapore Chapter of Women in Localization - Mathilde Barbaroux! With nearly eight years of experience as a freelance Localization Manager and French Language Specialist, and as an in-house Translation Project Manager at various LSPs, Mathilde relocated to Singapore and worked as a Localization Program Manager at Apple until recently. She is now seeking a new, exciting opportunity in the localization field. When she is not traveling or exploring parks to spot wildlife, you’ll find her learning languages or attending a yoga class. As Membership Manager, Mathilde's job is to work with the Chapter Manager to grow the Women in Localization community in Singapore. ==="Moving to Singapore has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. What a great way to meet #localisation professionals from around the world. Here are some pictures from our online event last week together with Women in Localization India Chapter. The photos can only go so far in giving us the full story of what it felt like to be at an electrifying event with so much positive energy and high levels of engagement. The conversation in many rooms steered towards AI - no surprise there! The diversity in the backgrounds of our participants was exactly what we had hoped for. We had people working in interpretation, voice-over industry, transcreation and app development. We had freelancers, corporate employees as well as business owners expanding into different markets. In true spirit of Women in Localization, the event provided a platform to empower female professionals with new ideas and connections to further their own personal and professional growth.
