Led a team of three to develop and change OIMS Individual Development Plan (IDP) data collection and tracking from an inefficient, paper-based system to an electronic form that created significant time savings for everyone involved. The new format also enabled early identification of training and development opportunities that helped the site improve its Safety, Security, Health & Environment (SSH&E) performance.

Designed the new form using InfoPath, a software application for designing, distributing, filling and submitting electronic forms containing structured data. The stored IDP data exports easily to spreadsheets for further analysis and development planning.

Annual time savings from the new system range from 30 minutes for second line supervisors and above to 40-80 hours for OIMS coordinators and Human Resources analysts per site (Total annual manhour saving is 1680 hours for 28 sites globally). Incorporation into the site’s annual Performance Assessment and Development Process (PADP) encouraged effective discussions about OIMS development needs. Have rolled out the practices to 11 Manufacturing Sites (refineries and chemical plants) and 17 lubes & fuel operation sites.

The team’s successful effort received recognition as a Global Manufacturing OIMS Practice (GMOP) 1.1 Model Practice in 2015 Singapore OIMS IA, and pilot plans are in place to adopt the electronic form at sites around the world. This achievement demonstrates ExxonMobil’s commitment to finding the best practices to protect the safety, security and health of its employees.
