Jinghong Golden Pagoda

Jinghong Golden Pagoda Temple is located in Gaozhuang Xishuangjing, Jinghong City. The temple was built in 2009 and is themed around Theravada Buddhism. The main structure of the temple is a large Thai-style pagoda, which is 66.6 meters high, symbolizing the connection of six countries by one river. There are four solid small pagodas around the main pagoda, each representing one of the four Buddhas. The temple enshrines the relics of Shakyamuni Buddha, and the top of the temple houses a jade Buddha statue carved from a large stone from the Mekong River, which was gifted by Thailand. The Golden Pagoda is a landmark building in Jinghong. My first impression of Xishuangbanna is the Golden Pagoda. I visited the Golden Pagoda on the night I arrived in Jinghong and went again during the day. The Golden Pagoda is beautiful both day and night.
