Encountering Snowfall During a March Trip to Japan! The Snowy Hida Takayama Old Town.

One of the goals of this trip was to visit the World Heritage Site Shirakawa-go. Although driving in the snow was a bit troublesome and colder than expected, the scenery blanketed in white snow was well worth it! The old town of Takayama is less than an hour's drive from Shirakawa-go, and it's definitely worth adding this spot to your itinerary. Strolling through the century-old shops on the old street is a delightful experience. There are many handicraft shops, restaurants, cafes, etc., all great places to enjoy the snow. At the end of the old street, there's a red bridge that looks even more beautiful under the snowscape. Don't miss out if you like to take photos!
