Manting Park in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan - The Royal Garden of the Dai King
Manting Park is located in the southeast of Jinghong, the capital of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, about 2 kilometers from the city center, in the triangular area where the Lancang River and Liusha River converge.
Manting Park has more than 500 well-preserved ancient ironwood forests and vegetation. The park has hills and rivers, and has a rich ethnic cultural landscape. It is a natural village-style park. It used to be the royal garden of the Dai King and has a history of more than 1300 years. The scenic area embodies the three main themes of 'Dai Royal Culture, Buddhist Culture, and Dai Folk Culture'.
Manting Park is the oldest park in Xishuangbanna, with a history of more than 1300 years. It used to be the royal garden of the Dai King of Xishuangbanna. It was a place where feudal lords and chieftains played and admired flowers in Dai history. Legend has it that when the Dai queen came to the park, the beautiful scenery of the park attracted the queen's soul, so it was named Chunhuan Park, which means 'Garden of Souls' in Dai.
The main entrance of Manting Park is located on the south side of the park. The park is equipped with six scenic spots: Ethnic Culture Square; Vine Plant Area; Royal Orchid Garden; Release Lake; Buddhist Culture Area; Tree Planting Memorial Area.
The Buddhist Culture Area has the Xishuangbanna General Buddhist Temple - Wabajie, which is famous in Southeast Asia, and the White Pagoda, Octagonal Pavilion, and Release Lake. Here you can appreciate the rich Theravada Buddhism culture by offering incense, tying Buddha lines, releasing lives and other Buddhist activities, and visiting the Pali Sutra.
The 6,000 square meters of black heart forest in the park, with vines and strange flowers and trees, colorful and competing for beauty, providing cool shade in summer and pleasant coolness. The Release Lake with blue waves, green grass and colorful flowers is a great place for leisure and entertainment.
Best season: October to June is the best, avoiding the rainy season. Jinghong has no extreme heat in summer and no severe cold in winter, and it is warm and pleasant all year round. May to October each year is the off-season, which is the rainy season.
Recommended play: 6-8 hours

Flew to Xishuangbanna specifically for the Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden
You must visit 'Xishuangbanna' at least once,
Run under the tall palm trees in the Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden.
The wind that blows past your ears is not only the wind, but also freedom.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden is divided into east and west areas. The west area has a variety of plant types and the roads are very flat, which is friendly to the elderly and children💌.
🌴Palm Garden: A large area of palm trees are intricately arranged, giving a holiday feel.
🌿Aquatic Plant Garden: June to September is the recommended viewing period for Victoria amazonica,
Before August 31, visitors weighing less than 40 kg can experience sitting on Victoria amazonica for a fee.
🍀Exotic Flower Garden: You can often see dancing grass moving with the guide's singing.
💐Flower Garden: Suitable for taking photos and checking in. The pink paper fan flowers are super out of the picture, the large pink ones are the sepals of the flower, and the small yellow dots in the middle are the flowers.
I have imagined countless times,
The look of being in close contact with plants in nature,
What I felt in the 'West Area of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden'
Is far more shocking and beautiful than my imagination✨.
You must come once to experience the specialness here.
📌Tips:
①There are sightseeing cars in the park, 50r/person for a single park area, and 100r/person for the east and west areas.
②If you have time to build slowly, it is recommended to stay in the Victoria amazonica Hotel in the scenic area and play at any time.
③Prevent mosquitoes and sun protection. Wearing solid color clothes is more out of the picture.

Xishuangbanna | Yunnan 🇨🇳
📍Located in the North of Myanmar and Laos, and south of Yunnan province lies a charming city where buildings, resorts, and temples are absolute pleasure in the eye.🤩
Xishuangbanna is the Chinese approximation of the original Thai name of Sip Sawng Panna (12 rice growing districts) has become China’s mini-Thailand.
Jinghong is the capital of Xishuangbanna with the best urban infrastructure in the area and it’s about 15 mins drive to/from the airport.✈️

A Magical Getaway in Xishuangbanna
Tropical rainforests, gorgeous temples, delicious food and a very nice atmosphere. We went on a trip to Xishuangbanna during December and it was such lovely warm weather 🌞 I would definitely recommend the night market with its plethora of food options, souvenirs and beautiful views. There are several nature parks and temples to visit in the surroundings. We stayed in the old town which has a lot of character with many restaurants around and also cafes & (fruit)shops. Would definitely go back again to explore more ! #xishuangbanna #explore #deliciousfood #temples #nature #nightmarket
A trip to Xishuangbanna
#Xishuangbanna #Elephant
Xishuangbanna is the place where everyone can be a princess and prince, you can try a lot of foods and drink, everywhere is full of Thailand-alike style, no wonder it’s called mini Thailand.
We live in Jinghong City, the price of the hotel is relatively cheaper than the one near night market, you can take taxi to night market, however it normally will have traffic jam. The famous restaurants usually need to queue up earlier but the taste is really good!
Overall, the trip is great!
Xishuangbanna has a Prajna Temple: it has become a popular spot for taking photos.
From afar, it looks like a magnificent palace. If you come to Xishuangbanna for a visit, this unique and niche temple is worth a visit.
For young people, visiting temples to worship and make wishes, as well as taking photos and checking in, is a must-do process. Temples with red walls and glazed tiles are the majority in the country, with no need to mention their beauty, but seeing too many can inevitably lead to aesthetic fatigue. The Prajna Temple, located in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, goes beyond people's understanding of ordinary temples and has become a popular check-in spot for internet celebrities due to its unique design and pure white color.
The Banruo Temple is built on the back half of Manzhen Village in Jinghong City, far away from the bustling city center, with an exceptionally quiet environment. From the foot of the mountain, you can see this white temple from afar, as if it were a holy place untouched by the world's disturbances.
Pronounced as "bo re si" in Chinese, the name of the temple is "Bodhisattva Temple" in Buddhism, which means the wisdom to see through everything. The temple has a long history, dating back to 833 AD, when the venerable Paramahansa Ananda came here to preach Buddhism and led the monks and local villagers to build the temple. Although the temple is not large, with only one main hall, it has been expanded and renovated many times by later generations to form its current scale.
Under the building, there are Toltolishis similar to those under the Central Plains ancient pagoda, with similar postures and clothing, but upon closer inspection, it can be seen that each face is different and there are no duplicates.
In the center of the main hall stands a large pagoda. Ignoring the golden Buddha statue enshrined inside, the architecture itself appears symmetrical from any angle, giving a sense of considerable stability.
Carefully observe this building, which combines the style of traditional Dai architecture with the charm of Southeast Asia. The stone carvings are exquisitely crafted, and the intricate shapes and patterns even evoke memories of the Rococo style that once flourished in Europe.
The Buddha statue dressed in golden robes appears exceptionally solemn and sacred against the backdrop of blue sky and white clouds.
The ivory white building gives people a sense of sanctity. The carvings and hollowed-out flowers on it show both magnificence and softness. It is more like a memorable palace than a temple.

Fantastic Water Splashing Festival in Yunnan
The annual Water Splashing Festival of the Dai people has just concluded! It typically lasts for three days from April 13 to April 15.
It is similar to neighboring Thailand's Songkran Festival, where three festive days are filled with celebrations, light-hearted merrymaking and getting splashed, sprayed or doused with buckets of water.
This festival is one of the most influential ethnic festivals in Yunnan area, especially in Xishuangbanna, a tropical city bordering Myanmar and Laos.
In Dai culture, water is very symbolic. The splashing of water in the festival is seen as a way to cleanse away the previous year to get ready for the next one.
This event continues to attract thousands of tourists every year from all over the world!
If you’re looking for a fun time, definitely don’t miss out on this festival.

Xishuangbanna in April
I went to Xishuangbanna, Yunnan in April for a short holiday. There’s an airport there that’s not far from the main resorts and hotels. You could choose to stay at a hotel to the west of the airport or stay closer to the night market (like I did) which is to the east of the airport. The city has a south East Asian vibe to it, especially the food and architecture. The city comes alive at night and most things centre around the vibrant night market #yunnan #awesomepic #china #nightlife

Jiangbian Night Market
It’s a long street along the river in Xishuanbanna. It’s located in downtown. Starts under the Sipsongpanna Bridge. Its a kind of restaurant under the sky :) lots of local sellers cook the street food. It’s possible to find a lot of delicious things: fresh fruit, BBQ, seafood. But the most famous food there - sweet rice in pineapple.
This place is rather crowded in the evening.

Lanterns miracle
The best Spring Festival location with Chinese lanterns that I’ve ever seen! It’s located in Xishuanbanna at Night Market. It’s a great location for photo shooting or just walking around and enjoy the beauty. There are wooden paths all around or you can sail the boat and come closer to the wall with lanterns.
If you are at Night Market don’t miss that place.
