📢 ICP Ljubljana Hosts CEPI's Inspiring Workshop on Non-Wood Fibres! 🌿📄 On November 19th, we at ICP - Pulp and Paper Institute, Ljubljana, had the honor of hosting a workshop on Non-Wood Fibres in the European Pulp and Paper Industry Workshop led by Cepi. This collaboration brought together leading voices in the field of non-wood fibres, innovation, and sustainability, highlighting transformative ideas and groundbreaking research in the paper and packaging industry. We extend our deepest gratitude to CEPI for choosing ICP as the venue for this prestigious event and for the opportunity to contribute to advancing sustainability in our sector. Special thanks to Jori Ringman, CEPI's Director General, for his opening remarks and to the entire CEPI team for their invaluable insights and participation. Our goal is to design and produce innovative, cost-effective, compostable and/or recyclable food packages based on active bioplastics and cellulosic materials. Trays, flexible films and absorbing pads will be developed using underexploited marine residues from seaweeds and agroindustrial wastes as well as antimicrobial enzymes, thus considering a circular economy strategy, to reduce food waste and improve food safety in the Mediterranean food supply chain. 🌍 Exciting News! 🌟 ICP is proud to be a pilot partner in the DECIDE project, empowering communities and SMEs with digital tools for active decision-making in developing circular economy business models. This initiative aligns with our mission of sustainable development and environmental protection. Led by the Center for Digitalization Zentrum für Digitalisierung Region Stuttgart – ZD.BB, the DECIDE project is funded with nearly three million euros until mid-2026. It involves 16 partners from 10 countries across Europe, working together to foster a greener and more digital European economy by supporting SMEs, startups, and business developers in the Danube region. We recently had our first project meeting, where partners from across Europe came together to discuss strategies and set the groundwork for the project's success. About a 1 year ago we started developing calcium supplement with better solubility and bioavailability. Calcium citrate has low solubility in water: 0.95 g/L (25 °C). Bariemon users were also using calcium citrate in effervescent tablets and many discarded the sediment! This renders the product ineffective. One of experiments involved metastable compound calcium citrate malate. It has much higher solubility of 11.2 g/L (25 °C). Due to limited availability and high cost and of ingredient I decided to make it myself. See the video of calcium citrate malate synthesis: https://lnkd.in/dd9CFChk At the end we decided not to buy calcium citrate malate, but to "outsource" the synthesis to consumer 😁. We made effervescent powder. As we omited sodium hydrogen carbonate which is present in almost all other effervescent products we also achieved "SODIUM FREE" product. Under Enemon Nutrition programme we launched Osteoemon, calcium citrate malate with vitamin D: https://lnkd.in/dRyH9xzA The colour is pH dependent, so at the begining of reaction it starts pink and finishes with pink grapefruit colour as the pH rises🙂.
